Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Koch earned his medical degree from the Universidad de Guadalajara, a prestigious institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on biomedical research. While there, he distinguished himself academically, graduating with honors and contributing to several peer‑reviewed publications on wound healing and tissue regeneration. His early exposure to a diverse patient population in Mexico cultivated a profound appreciation for cultural sensitivity and adaptability—qualities that would later shape his inclusive approach to aesthetic surgery.

Following medical school, Dr. Koch pursued a residency in Plastic Surgery at the University at Buffalo, where he refined his operative skills under the mentorship of nationally recognized surgeons. During his residency, he completed rotations in reconstructive microsurgery, craniofacial anomalies, and burn management, gaining comprehensive exposure to the full spectrum of plastic surgery. He was selected for the highly competitive research track, presenting original findings at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) annual meeting and publishing in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery.

To further specialize, Dr. Koch completed a Fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, an elite program that integrates advanced aesthetic techniques with rigorous academic inquiry. At Harvard, he mastered the latest innovations in facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and breast aesthetics, while also participating in interdisciplinary collaborations with dermatology, radiology, and biomedical engineering departments. This fellowship solidified his reputation as a surgeon capable of delivering both transformative results and scientific contributions to the field.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Koch’s expertise in breast augmentation is distinguished by his meticulous attention to implant selection, positioning, and pocket construction. He employs a patient‑centered algorithm that evaluates chest wall dimensions, tissue thickness, and aesthetic preferences to recommend the optimal implant size, shape, and surface. Utilizing a dual‑plane technique when appropriate, he achieves natural‑looking results with minimal visible scarring. His postoperative protocol includes custom‑fitted support garments, detailed activity restrictions, and routine imaging to ensure implant integrity and patient satisfaction.

In rhinoplasty, Dr. Koch combines artistic vision with precision engineering to sculpt nasal structures that harmonize with facial proportions. He leverages three‑dimensional imaging and computer‑assisted simulation to preview surgical outcomes, allowing patients to visualize subtle changes before entering the operating room. Whether performing an open or closed approach, he prioritizes preservation of the nasal airway, meticulous cartilage grafting, and layered soft‑tissue refinement to achieve functional and aesthetic excellence.

Facelift surgery under Dr. Koch’s hands reflects his mastery of facial anatomy and rejuvenation principles. He utilizes a SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) lift, strategically repositioning deep facial layers to address sagging, nasolabial folds, and jowls. By employing endoscopic assistance and limited incisions, he reduces postoperative edema and accelerates recovery while delivering lasting, natural results. His comprehensive approach often incorporates adjunctive procedures such as fat grafting, laser resurfacing, and dermal fillers to enhance skin quality and contour.

Liposuction performed by Dr. Koch is a hallmark of precision contouring, employing tumescent infiltration and power‑assist technology to achieve uniform fat removal while safeguarding vital structures. He tailors each treatment plan to the patient’s body map, targeting stubborn adipose deposits in the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or upper arms. Post‑operative care includes lymphatic drainage therapy and a graduated exercise regimen to maintain results and promote tissue health.

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) under Dr. Koch’s guidance integrates meticulous fascial plication, excess skin excision, and strategic umbilical repositioning. He emphasizes the importance of abdominal wall integrity, employing reinforced suturing techniques to minimize recurrence of diastasis. His aesthetic sensibility ensures that scar placement follows natural skin tension lines, rendering postoperative scars discreet and well‑concealed. Comprehensive postoperative protocols, including scar massage and nutritional counseling, further enhance healing and patient confidence.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Dr. Koch’s dedication to patient safety is reflected in his active membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), where he adheres to the organization’s stringent standards for ethical practice, continuing education, and peer review. He routinely participates in ASPS‑mandated safety workshops, staying abreast of evolving guidelines on infection control, anesthesia management, and perioperative monitoring. His office is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art operating suites that meet Joint Commission accreditation criteria, ensuring a sterile environment and rapid response capabilities.

In addition to ASPS, Dr. Koch holds fellowships with the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). These affiliations underscore his commitment to a multidisciplinary approach that integrates aesthetic excellence with surgical rigor. Through ASAPS, he engages in peer‑reviewed case studies and outcome analyses, contributing to the collective knowledge base that drives safer, more effective aesthetic procedures. His ACS membership reinforces his adherence to universal surgical safety checklists, patient‑centered communication, and evidence‑based practice.

Recognition of Dr. Koch’s safety record and clinical excellence includes the Best Plastic Surgeon Award from Buffalo Magazine (2022) and the Top Doctor Award from New York Magazine (2021). These honors are testament to his consistently low complication rates, high patient satisfaction scores, and innovative implementation of safety protocols. He routinely audits his own outcomes, employing statistical analysis to identify trends, mitigate risks, and refine surgical techniques. This data‑driven mindset positions his practice at the forefront of patient‑centric safety initiatives.
