Dr. Tammy Polit - Plastic Surgeon in Colleyville, TX

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Tammy Polit earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and cutting‑edge research environment. During her medical school tenure, she distinguished herself not only through academic excellence but also through an early immersion in clinical research focused on tissue regeneration and scar modulation. Her dissertation, which explored the molecular pathways of collagen remodeling, earned the prestigious Dean’s Award for Innovation and laid the groundwork for her later pioneering work in minimally invasive aesthetic procedures. The comprehensive exposure to both basic sciences and patient‑centered care at UT Southwestern instilled in her a disciplined analytical mindset and a profound respect for evidence‑based practice.

Following medical school, Dr. Polit pursued a highly competitive residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The MD Anderson program is globally recognized for its emphasis on reconstructive surgery, complex microsurgical techniques, and multidisciplinary collaboration. During her residency, Dr. Polit gained extensive experience in oncologic reconstruction, hand surgery, and craniofacial anomaly correction, performing thousands of procedures under the mentorship of world‑class faculty. She contributed to multiple clinical trials investigating novel flap designs and was instrumental in developing a protocol for accelerated wound healing in postoperative patients, which later became a standard practice in the department.

To further refine her aesthetic expertise, Dr. Polit completed a prestigious fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, where she was mentored by leading pioneers in facial rejuvenation and body contouring. At Harvard, she mastered advanced techniques such as high‑definition liposuction, ultra‑refined abdominoplasty, and cutting‑edge laser technologies. Her fellowship research, published in the Journal of Aesthetic Surgery, demonstrated the superiority of combined fat grafting and platelet‑rich plasma in achieving durable facial volume restoration. This blend of rigorous academic training, hands‑on surgical mastery, and innovative research underpins Dr. Polit’s reputation as a surgeon who seamlessly integrates scientific rigor with artistic vision.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Tammy Polit’s surgical repertoire spans the full spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, with a particular focus on delivering natural, long‑lasting results. In cosmetic surgery, she is celebrated for her nuanced approach to facial rejuvenation, employing a combination of minimally invasive techniques such as Botox, dermal fillers, and thread lifts to restore youthful contours while preserving the patient’s unique facial expressions. Her expertise in liposuction is distinguished by the use of power‑assist technology and strategic fat‑mapping, enabling precise sculpting of stubborn adipose deposits while minimizing postoperative bruising and recovery time. Dr. Polit’s commitment to safety and precision has made her a preferred surgeon for high‑definition body contouring, where she synergizes liposuction with strategic fat grafting to enhance muscular definition and improve overall silhouette.

Abdominoplasty, commonly known as the “tummy tuck,” is another cornerstone of Dr. Polit’s practice. She has pioneered a “no‑scar” technique that utilizes concealed incisions and advanced tissue‑adhesion technologies, which earned her the Innovator Award for No Scar Tummy Tuck at the 2021 Plastic Surgery Innovation Forum. This method reduces visible scarring, shortens recovery, and delivers a flatter, more toned abdomen with superior aesthetic outcomes. In addition to traditional abdominoplasty, Dr. Polit incorporates regenerative medicine principles, using autologous stem‑cell enriched fat grafts to improve skin elasticity and promote wound healing. These regenerative strategies have transformed postoperative recovery, decreasing inflammation and enhancing the durability of results.

Beyond traditional surgical modalities, Dr. Polit is a leading practitioner of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial therapy, a non‑invasive technology that addresses a broad array of skin concerns ranging from vascular lesions to pigment irregularities. Her clinic employs state‑of‑the‑art IPL devices calibrated for individualized skin types, ensuring optimal efficacy while safeguarding against overtreatment. She integrates IPL treatments into comprehensive facial rejuvenation plans, often pairing them with laser resurfacing and topical antioxidant protocols to achieve synergistic improvements in skin texture, tone, and radiance. Dr. Polit’s mastery of both surgical and non‑surgical modalities enables her to tailor treatment pathways that align with each patient’s goals, lifestyle, and tolerance for downtime.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Dr. Tammy Polit’s dedication to patient safety is reflected in her active participation in the most respected professional societies in the field. She holds active membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), where she contributes to the organization’s safety initiatives, including the development of standardized pre‑operative assessment protocols and the dissemination of best‑practice guidelines for postoperative care. As a member of the Texas Plastic Surgeons Association, Dr. Polit collaborates with state‑level peers to advocate for legislative measures that protect patients and promote transparency in cosmetic surgery. Her involvement with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) further underscores her commitment to global standards, as she regularly presents findings on complication mitigation and outcome optimization at international conferences.

Recognition of Dr. Polit’s unwavering focus on safety and quality has been affirmed through multiple prestigious awards. In 2022, Dallas Magazine honored her with the Best Cosmetic Surgeon Award, citing her exceptional track record of low complication rates and high patient satisfaction scores. The following year, she received the Innovator Award for No Scar Tummy Tuck at the Plastic Surgery Innovation Forum, a testament to her ability to translate cutting‑edge research into safer, less invasive surgical options. Most recently, in 2023, she was named one of the Top 100 Cosmetic Surgeons in America, a distinction that evaluates surgeons on criteria such as peer‑reviewed publications, surgical volume, and adherence to safety protocols.

Beyond accolades, Dr. Polit has instituted a comprehensive, multi‑layered safety framework within her practice. This includes mandatory double‑checking of patient identifiers, pre‑operative imaging verification, and the use of a standardized surgical safety checklist modeled after the World Health Organization’s “Safe Surgery Saves Lives” initiative. Her clinic employs a dedicated patient safety officer who monitors postoperative outcomes, conducts root‑cause analyses of any adverse events, and ensures continuous quality improvement. Additionally, Dr. Polit’s team utilizes cutting‑edge anesthesia monitoring and employs prophylactic measures such as venous thromboembolism prophylaxis and optimized pain management pathways, all designed to minimize risk and expedite recovery.
