Dr. Sonia Dilolli’s academic journey began with a steadfast dedication to the sciences, culminating in her graduation from Baylor College of Dentistry in 2008 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. At Baylor, she distinguished herself not only through academic excellence but also through active participation in research initiatives that explored the biomechanics of tooth enamel and the long‑term effects of restorative materials. Her dissertation, which investigated the comparative durability of ceramic versus composite restorations under varying occlusal forces, earned commendation from faculty and laid a foundation for her later emphasis on evidence‑based cosmetic dentistry. The rigorous curriculum at Baylor, renowned for its blend of clinical acumen and cutting‑edge research, equipped Dr. Dilolli with a comprehensive understanding of oral anatomy, pathology, and the evolving landscape of dental technology.

Following her DDS, Dr. Dilolli pursued extensive postgraduate training that sharpened her technical skills and deepened her appreciation for aesthetic dentistry. She completed a two‑year residency in General Dentistry at a leading academic medical center, where she refined her proficiency in complex restorative procedures, endodontic therapy, and periodontal management. During this period, she also undertook specialized workshops in digital smile design, mastering the use of intra‑oral scanners, CAD/CAM systems, and virtual treatment planning software. These experiences cultivated a meticulous attention to detail and an ability to anticipate the nuanced ways in which dental interventions interact with facial dynamics, preparing her to deliver results that are both functionally robust and visually harmonious.

Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Dilolli has continued to augment her expertise through participation in national conferences, advanced certification programs, and peer‑reviewed publications. She holds additional credentials in Cosmetic Dentistry from the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, where she completed a rigorous competency assessment that evaluated her skill in aesthetic restoration, shade selection, and patient communication. Her ongoing engagement with professional societies ensures that she remains at the forefront of emerging techniques, such as minimally invasive veneer placement, biocompatible adhesive protocols, and the integration of artificial intelligence in diagnostic imaging. This relentless pursuit of knowledge underpins her ability to offer Herndon patients cutting‑edge care that is grounded in the highest standards of dental science.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Dilolli’s surgical repertoire encompasses a broad spectrum of cosmetic and general dentistry procedures, each executed with an unwavering commitment to precision and patient comfort. In the realm of cosmetic dentistry, she is renowned for her mastery of porcelain veneers, which she employs to correct discoloration, misalignment, and minor structural imperfections while preserving natural tooth tissue. Her technique involves a conservative tooth preparation that respects the integrity of the enamel, followed by the placement of ultra‑thin, high‑strength ceramic laminates that are meticulously color‑matched to the patient’s existing dentition. The result is a seamless integration that enhances brightness, symmetry, and overall smile aesthetics without sacrificing durability. Dr. Dilolli also excels in the placement of dental implants, utilizing advanced guided surgery protocols that leverage three‑dimensional imaging to achieve optimal angulation and osseointegration, thereby minimizing postoperative discomfort and expediting functional restoration.

Beyond aesthetic enhancements, Dr. Dilolli’s expertise extends to comprehensive general dentistry, where she addresses the full spectrum of oral health needs. Her proficiency in restorative dentistry includes the placement of direct composite fillings, inlays, onlays, and full‑coverage crowns, each crafted to restore function while maintaining a natural appearance. She employs state‑of‑the‑art adhesive systems that create a robust bond between restorative material and tooth structure, reducing the risk of secondary decay and prolonging the lifespan of the restoration. In endodontic therapy, Dr. Dilolli utilizes rotary instrumentation and magnification tools to meticulously debride the root canal system, ensuring complete removal of infected tissue and preservation of periapical health. Her holistic approach to dental care also incorporates periodontal therapy, where she performs scaling and root planing, laser-assisted treatments, and regenerative procedures to maintain healthy gingival tissues and prevent disease progression.

Integral to Dr. Dilolli’s surgical practice is her dedication to minimally invasive techniques that prioritize patient safety and swift recovery. She adopts a needle‑free anesthesia approach whenever feasible, employing topical anesthetics and computer‑controlled delivery systems that reduce discomfort and anxiety. For more extensive procedures, she utilizes conscious sedation protocols that are carefully calibrated to each patient’s medical history and procedural requirements, thereby achieving optimal pain control while preserving vital reflexes. Throughout each intervention, Dr. Dilolli adheres to stringent infection control standards, employing sterilization protocols that exceed regulatory mandates. Her surgical environment is equipped with high‑efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration, ultraviolet disinfection systems, and single‑use instruments, all of which contribute to a safe, sterile setting that protects both patients and staff.

Each patient undergoes a thorough medical history review, including screening for systemic conditions, medication interactions, and allergies that could influence procedural risk. She employs digital radiography with the lowest effective dose, complemented by protective shielding to minimize radiation exposure. In the operatory, she utilizes real‑time vital sign monitoring for patients undergoing sedation, ensuring immediate detection of any physiological changes.
