He consistently ranked among the top percentile of his class, earning accolades for both his academic performance and his dedication to community service. His research projects, which explored the molecular mechanisms of wound healing and the impact of peri‑operative nutrition on surgical outcomes, were presented at national conferences and published in peer‑reviewed journals, laying a solid foundation for his future specialization.

Following his graduation, Dr. Sandhu pursued an Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, a highly competitive program known for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. From 2019 to 2025, he immersed himself in a comprehensive training environment that blended hands‑on operative experience with extensive didactic instruction. Under the mentorship of renowned faculty surgeons, he mastered complex microsurgical techniques, facial rejuvenation procedures, and advanced body contouring methods. His residency not only honed his technical precision but also instilled a deep appreciation for the ethical dimensions of plastic surgery, reinforcing his commitment to patient autonomy and informed consent.

Beyond the operating theater, Dr. Sandhu’s residency included dedicated research rotations, where he contributed to groundbreaking studies on tissue engineering, scar mitigation, and the psychosocial outcomes of cosmetic interventions. He co‑authored multiple publications that examined the long‑term efficacy of autologous fat grafting and the role of regenerative medicine in aesthetic reconstruction. These scholarly endeavors earned him recognition as a rising star in academic plastic surgery and provided him with a robust platform to influence future best practices. Surgical Expertise

Dr. Sandhu’s surgical repertoire is distinguished by a refined mastery of breast surgery, encompassing both augmentation and reduction procedures, as well as reconstructive techniques following oncologic mastectomy. His approach to breast augmentation emphasizes natural aesthetics, precise implant placement, and meticulous pocket creation, ensuring outcomes that harmonize with the patient’s body contour and personal preferences. In breast reduction, he employs advanced pedicle preservation methods that safeguard nipple‑areolar complex viability while achieving significant size reduction and symptom relief. Moreover, his expertise extends to complex oncoplastic reconstructions, where he integrates oncologic safety with aesthetic restoration, utilizing autologous tissue flaps, implant‑based reconstructions, and innovative adjuncts such as acellular dermal matrices to optimize shape, symmetry, and scar quality.

Body contouring represents another pillar of Dr. Sandhu’s practice, where he performs transformative procedures such as abdominoplasty, thigh lifts, and torso sculpting with an emphasis on preserving functional integrity and achieving harmonious proportions. His abdominoplasty technique incorporates progressive tension sutures, meticulous hemostasis, and strategic liposuction to minimize postoperative seroma formation and enhance scar aesthetics. In thigh and buttock contouring, he leverages both traditional and emerging technologies—including high‑definition liposuction, fat grafting, and the use of radiofrequency‑assisted tightening—to sculpt contours that reflect the patient’s desired silhouette while preserving vital neurovascular structures. His commitment to personalized treatment plans ensures that each body contouring surgery is customized to the patient’s unique anatomy, lifestyle, and aesthetic goals.

Beyond breast and body procedures, Dr. Sandhu is proficient in a broad spectrum of plastic surgery interventions, ranging from facial rejuvenation to hand reconstruction. His facial aesthetic work includes rhinoplasty, facelifts, and blepharoplasty, where he employs a blend of open and closed techniques to achieve natural, age‑appropriate results. In reconstructive hand surgery, he has managed complex peripheral nerve injuries, tendon repairs, and microsurgical replantations, underscoring his adaptability across the full continuum of plastic surgery. By staying at the forefront of surgical innovation—integrating technologies such as intra‑operative navigation, laser‑assisted skin resurfacing, and regenerative tissue matrices—Dr. Sandhu consistently delivers outcomes that exceed patient expectations while upholding the highest standards of safety and efficacy.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Sandhu’s practice, a principle reinforced by his active involvement in leading professional societies such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons. Through these affiliations, he remains immersed in the latest safety protocols, evidence‑based guidelines, and peer‑reviewed research that shape the evolving standards of care. He routinely participates in ASPS‑sponsored workshops on operative safety, infection control, and postoperative monitoring, translating these insights into rigorous protocols within his Westchase clinic. His commitment to safety is further demonstrated by his implementation of a comprehensive pre‑operative screening process that includes detailed medical history reviews, risk stratification assessments, and multidisciplinary consultations to mitigate potential complications.

In recognition of his unwavering dedication to excellence, Dr. Sandhu was honored with the Top Plastic Surgeon Award in 2022, a distinction bestowed by a panel of industry experts and patient advocacy groups. This accolade reflects his consistent track record of delivering exceptional surgical outcomes while maintaining an exemplary safety profile. The award highlighted his proactive measures, such as the adoption of a standardized surgical checklist modeled after the World Health Organization’s Safe Surgery Checklist, and his investment in state‑of‑the‑art operating theater infrastructure that includes advanced ventilation systems, real‑time patient monitoring, and intra‑operative imaging capabilities. These investments not only enhance procedural precision but also significantly reduce the incidence of peri‑operative adverse events.

Beyond institutional recognition, Dr. Sandhu fosters a culture of safety through ongoing education of his surgical team and ancillary staff. He conducts regular morbidity and mortality conferences, encouraging transparent discussion of complications and collaborative problem‑solving. By cultivating an environment where every team member feels empowered to voice concerns, he ensures that safety remains a shared responsibility. Additionally, he has instituted a robust postoperative follow‑up protocol that leverages telemedicine platforms for early detection of complications, enabling timely interventions that preserve patient health and satisfaction.
