Dr. Sarika Banker earned her medical degree from the prestigious Weill Cornell Medicine, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum, cutting‑edge research opportunities, and commitment to cultivating physician‑leaders. During her time at Cornell, she distinguished herself academically, securing research grants and publishing articles on regenerative dermatology and scar management. Her clinical rotations were marked by an early fascination with the interplay between skin health and aesthetic outcomes, prompting her to seek mentorship from leading figures in both plastic and reconstructive surgery. This foundation at Weill Cornell not only provided Dr. Banker with a robust understanding of core medical sciences but also honed her analytical skills, critical thinking, and dedication to patient safety—principles that continue to shape her practice today.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Banker completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with honors and served as a research assistant in a laboratory focused on cellular differentiation and extracellular matrix remodeling. This undergraduate experience cultivated a deep appreciation for the molecular mechanisms that underlie skin integrity and wound healing, a knowledge base she later translated into innovative surgical techniques and postoperative protocols. Her academic journey at Penn was also marked by leadership roles in student organizations, where she advocated for increased representation of women in science and medicine, laying the groundwork for her later mentorship of aspiring surgeons.

Following her MD, Dr. Banker pursued an intensive residency in dermatologic surgery, a pathway that uniquely positions her at the nexus of dermatology and plastic surgery. The residency, conducted at a leading academic center, provided exhaustive exposure to complex reconstructive procedures, laser therapies, and cosmetic innovations. Throughout this period, she refined her technical dexterity, mastering microsurgical suturing, flap design, and the strategic use of dermal fillers. She also completed fellowships that emphasized aesthetic facial surgery, where she collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to develop protocols that minimize scarring and optimize tissue perfusion. This rigorous training equips Dr. Banker with a comprehensive skill set that bridges the aesthetic aspirations of plastic surgery with the scientific rigor of dermatologic practice.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Banker’s surgical expertise is anchored in a profound command of dermatologic principles, allowing her to deliver results that harmonize skin health with aesthetic refinement. Her mastery of facial rejuvenation techniques—including brow lifts, rhinoplasty, and submental liposuction—reflects an intricate understanding of facial anatomy, tissue dynamics, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow that defines youthful appearance. She employs a blend of traditional open procedures and minimally invasive endoscopic approaches, selecting the optimal method based on each patient’s unique anatomical considerations and recovery goals. This versatility ensures that patients benefit from reduced operative times, minimized scarring, and accelerated convalescence without compromising the durability of the results.

Beyond facial aesthetics, Dr. Banker is renowned for her expertise in body contouring and skin resurfacing, leveraging state‑of‑the‑art technologies such as fractional CO₂ lasers, radiofrequency microneedling, and high‑intensity focused ultrasound. Her ability to integrate these modalities with surgical interventions—such as abdominoplasty, thigh lifts, and gluteal augmentation—produces synergistic outcomes that address both volume and texture. By meticulously mapping treatment plans that incorporate pre‑operative skin assessments, she ensures that each procedure is tailored to the patient’s specific skin type, elasticity, and healing capacity, thereby reducing the risk of complications and enhancing overall aesthetic harmony.

Dr. Banker’s commitment to surgical excellence is further demonstrated by her ongoing participation in advanced hands‑on workshops and cadaveric labs, where she refines emerging techniques such as autologous fat grafting, stem‑cell enriched grafts, and regenerative dermal matrices. These pursuits reflect her dedication to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in aesthetic surgery, always with an eye toward preserving native tissue vitality and promoting natural‑looking results. Her comprehensive expertise, rooted in both dermatologic and plastic surgical disciplines, positions her as a leader who can navigate complex aesthetic challenges with confidence, precision, and artistry.

Her participation in AAD’s continuing education programs ensures that she remains compliant with evolving standards for infection control, anesthesia monitoring, and postoperative care, thereby safeguarding her patients at every stage of their surgical journey.

In addition to national affiliations, Dr. Banker is a respected member of the New York Dermatologic Society, a regional body that emphasizes collaborative learning and peer review. Within this society, she contributes to case conferences, shares outcome data, and mentors younger physicians on best practices for minimizing complications such as wound dehiscence, pigmentary changes, and nerve injury.
