Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Owsley’s academic foundation was laid at the Chicago Medical School of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, where he earned his MD with honors. The curriculum at Rosalind Franklin is renowned for its emphasis on integrated learning, combining rigorous basic science with early clinical exposure. During his four years of medical school, Dr. Owsley distinguished himself through research projects that explored wound healing mechanisms and the molecular pathways of skin regeneration, earning presentations at national meetings and contributing to peer‑reviewed publications. His commitment to academic excellence was further reflected in his leadership roles within student organizations, where he advocated for enhanced surgical exposure for his peers. The diverse patient population of Chicago provided a formative environment, allowing Dr. Owsley to develop cultural competency and a nuanced understanding of varied skin types, which later became a cornerstone of his practice in Idaho.

Following medical school, Dr. Owsley pursued a highly competitive dermatology residency, a decision that would shape his dual expertise in both dermatologic and aesthetic surgery. The residency, conducted at a leading academic center, offered comprehensive training in medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology. Over three years, he mastered a broad spectrum of procedures ranging from Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer to complex reconstructive flap techniques for facial defects. His dedication to surgical precision earned him accolades from faculty, and he was selected to present his case series on innovative laser resurfacing protocols at the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting. The residency also emphasized evidence‑based practice, instilling in Dr. Owsley a habit of critically evaluating emerging technologies before integrating them into patient care.

To further refine his surgical acumen, Dr. Owsley completed a fellowship at the University of Idaho School of Medicine, where he focused on advanced cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. This fellowship provided a unique platform to blend his dermatologic background with the broader scope of plastic surgery, allowing him to perform complex facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and microsurgical reconstruction under the mentorship of renowned plastic surgeons. During this period, he contributed to a multi‑institutional study on the long‑term outcomes of combined laser and surgical interventions, which was later published in a leading surgical journal. The University of Idaho experience also deepened his commitment to serving underserved populations, as he participated in community outreach programs that delivered free skin cancer screenings and aesthetic consultations to rural Idaho residents. This blend of academic rigor, clinical diversity, and community service forged the foundation upon which Dr. Owsley now builds his distinguished practice in Nampa.

For patients seeking rejuvenation, Dr. Owsley offers a full suite of aesthetic dermatology services, including injectable neuromodulators, volumizing fillers, and thread lifts, each administered with an emphasis on preserving natural facial dynamics. His meticulous approach ensures that facial harmony is maintained, avoiding the “over‑filled” appearance that can compromise patient satisfaction.

Pediatric dermatology represents another cornerstone of Dr. Owsley’s practice. He is adept at managing congenital skin anomalies, vascular malformations, and pediatric skin cancers, employing gentle yet effective techniques that prioritize the unique physiological considerations of younger patients. His proficiency in pediatric procedural dermatology includes the use of ultrasonography‑guided biopsies, laser therapy for hemangiomas, and minimally invasive excisions that minimize scarring. Recognizing the emotional impact of skin disease on children and families, Dr. Owsley adopts a compassionate communication style, ensuring that both the patient and caregivers understand the treatment plan and anticipated outcomes. This pediatric focus has earned him referrals from pediatricians throughout the region, further solidifying his reputation as a trusted specialist for families across Idaho.

In the realm of dermatologic surgery, Dr. Owsley combines state‑of‑the‑art technology with refined surgical technique to address both functional and cosmetic concerns. His laser dermatology practice utilizes fractional CO₂, Erbium:YAG, and picosecond lasers to treat a range of indications, from deep wrinkles and acne scarring to pigmented lesions and vascular lesions. Each laser session is meticulously planned, with pre‑treatment skin analysis guiding parameters that maximize efficacy while minimizing downtime. Dr. Owsley’s expertise in skin cancer surgery includes Mohs micrographic surgery, wide local excision, and sentinel lymph node biopsy for melanoma, ensuring complete oncologic clearance with preservation of healthy tissue. In addition to these core services, he offers a spectrum of cosmetic skin procedures—such as chemical peels, microneedling, and radiofrequency skin tightening—that complement surgical interventions, creating a comprehensive aesthetic platform that addresses the patient’s entire facial and body aesthetics.

Intra‑operatively, he utilizes advanced monitoring technologies, such as continuous pulse oximetry and capnography, to ensure patient stability throughout procedures performed under local or moderate sedation. Post‑operative protocols include standardized discharge instructions, real‑time follow‑up via telemedicine, and a 24‑hour hotline staffed by qualified clinical personnel to address any concerns promptly.
