Dr. Ronald R. Hollins - Plastic Surgeon in Omaha, NE

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Ronald R. Hollins earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on research-driven clinical practice. During his four‑year tenure, he distinguished himself academically, graduating in the top 10 % of his class and receiving the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence. His coursework spanned the full spectrum of human biology, from molecular genetics to advanced anatomy, providing a robust foundation that would later underpin his intricate work in plastic surgery. He also completed a dedicated research fellowship focused on wound healing and scar modulation, publishing multiple peer‑reviewed articles that explored the cellular mechanisms of fibroblast activity and the impact of novel biomaterials on postoperative outcomes.

Following medical school, Dr. Hollins pursued a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), a program celebrated for its high case volume and diverse surgical exposure. Over the course of six intensive years, he rotated through trauma, oncology, and reconstructive services, mastering the full gamut of operative techniques—from microsurgical free‑flap transfers to complex craniofacial reconstructions. His mentors at UNMC praised his meticulous hand‑eye coordination, his ability to anticipate intra‑operative challenges, and his unwavering composure under pressure. During his residency, he was selected for the prestigious American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) Resident Research Award, recognizing his contributions to the field of tissue engineering.

Beyond the core residency, Dr. Hollins supplemented his training with a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at a leading private practice in New York City, where he honed his skills in facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and minimally invasive procedures. This fellowship exposed him to the latest innovations in laser technology, injectable fillers, and three‑dimensional imaging, tools that he later integrated into his Omaha practice to enhance precision and patient satisfaction. The combination of a strong academic grounding, comprehensive surgical exposure, and specialized aesthetic training equips Dr. Hollins with a rare blend of depth and breadth, allowing him to tackle both the most intricate reconstructive challenges and the subtle nuances of cosmetic refinement.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Hollins’s surgical repertoire encompasses the full spectrum of plastic surgery, with a particular emphasis on procedures that blend functional restoration with aesthetic optimization. In the realm of reconstructive surgery, he has performed thousands of complex reconstructions for patients recovering from oncologic resections, traumatic injuries, and congenital anomalies. His expertise in microsurgical free‑flap techniques—such as the deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap for breast reconstruction—has earned him recognition for achieving natural‑appearing results with minimal donor‑site morbidity. Moreover, his innovative use of adipose‑derived stem cells to improve flap viability reflects a commitment to advancing the science of tissue regeneration.

When it comes to cosmetic surgery, Dr. Hollins is celebrated for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to translate a patient’s vision into a harmonious physical outcome. He routinely performs facial rejuvenation procedures—including rhytidectomy, brow lift, and blepharoplasty—leveraging three‑dimensional imaging to pre‑visualize results and set realistic expectations. His approach to body contouring combines advanced liposuction technologies, such as ultrasound‑assisted liposuction (UAL) and laser‑assisted lipolysis, with meticulous sculpting techniques that accentuate natural body lines. Patients consistently commend his skill in achieving a balanced silhouette while preserving the integrity of surrounding tissues.

Beyond traditional operating room interventions, Dr. Hollins has embraced the growing field of non‑surgical aesthetic treatments, integrating injectable neuromodulators, dermal fillers, and skin resurfacing modalities into his practice. He utilizes a personalized algorithm that assesses skin quality, facial anatomy, and patient goals to determine the optimal combination of procedures, thereby minimizing the need for invasive surgery when appropriate. His dedication to staying at the forefront of emerging technologies—such as radiofrequency microneedling and platelet‑rich plasma (PRP) therapies—ensures that his patients benefit from the most effective, evidence‑based interventions available.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Hollins’s practice, a principle reinforced by his active involvement in professional societies and his adherence to stringent accreditation standards. As a board‑certified plastic surgeon, he maintains active membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), where he regularly contributes to safety initiatives, peer‑reviewed guidelines, and continuing education programs. His participation in the ASPS Safety Committee has allowed him to influence national policies on infection control, surgical site verification, and postoperative monitoring, ensuring that the latest best practices are embedded in his Omaha clinic.

In addition to his ASPS affiliation, Dr. Hollins holds certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a credential that demands ongoing demonstration of competence through rigorous examinations and peer evaluation. He also collaborates closely with the Nebraska Society of Plastic Surgeons, a regional organization that promotes collaborative learning and quality improvement among local practitioners. His commitment to safety was publicly recognized when he received the Best Cosmetic Surgeon Award from the Omaha Medical Society in 2022, an honor that highlighted his exemplary outcomes, low complication rates, and dedication to patient education.

Education and mentorship are integral components of Dr. Hollins’s safety philosophy. In 2020, he was bestowed the Outstanding Educator Award by the University of Nebraska, acknowledging his role in training the next generation of surgeons on the principles of aseptic technique, risk assessment, and ethical decision‑making. He routinely conducts hands‑on workshops for residents and fellows, emphasizing the importance of preoperative planning, intraoperative vigilance, and meticulous postoperative follow‑up. By fostering a culture of safety both within his own practice and throughout the broader surgical community, Dr. Hollins ensures that every patient benefits from a care environment where excellence is the baseline, not the exception.
