Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Ron Soltero earned his medical doctorate from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on research-driven clinical practice. During his tenure at UCSD, he distinguished himself academically, graduating in the top decile of his class while actively contributing to pioneering studies in tissue engineering and wound healing. His early exposure to a diverse patient population in a bustling academic medical center sharpened his diagnostic acumen and cultivated a deep appreciation for the socioeconomic factors that influence health outcomes, laying a solid foundation for his later specialization in plastic surgery.

Following medical school, Dr. Soltero pursued a highly competitive residency in plastic surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he completed a comprehensive six‑year program that blended reconstructive and aesthetic disciplines. At UCLA, he honed his operative skills under the mentorship of world‑class faculty members who emphasized both functional restoration and aesthetic refinement. His residency rotations spanned complex microsurgical free‑flap reconstructions, craniofacial deformity corrections, and high‑volume aesthetic procedures, granting him a breadth of experience that few surgeons acquire. He earned accolades for his meticulous technique, receiving the Resident of the Year award in his final year for his exemplary operative performance and dedication to patient safety.

In addition to his formal residency, Dr. Soltero supplemented his training with fellowships and specialized courses that deepened his expertise in emerging aesthetic technologies. He completed a fellowship in facial aesthetic surgery at a premier private practice, where he refined his skills in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, and non‑invasive body contouring. Moreover, he pursued advanced certifications in fat grafting and laser resurfacing, integrating these modalities into a comprehensive aesthetic repertoire. This layered educational journey, marked by academic excellence, hands‑on operative mastery, and continuous skill enhancement, equips Dr. Soltero to address the most intricate reconstructive challenges while delivering artistry in cosmetic surgery.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Soltero’s surgical portfolio is anchored by a mastery of breast augmentation, a procedure he approaches with a nuanced understanding of both form and function. He evaluates each patient’s thoracic anatomy, skin quality, and personal aesthetic goals to select the optimal implant type, size, and placement—whether subglandular, submuscular, or a hybrid approach. Leveraging the latest silicone gel technologies and employing precise, incision‑minimizing techniques, he achieves natural‑looking results with minimal scarring. His commitment to safety is evident in his rigorous pre‑operative planning, which includes three‑dimensional imaging to anticipate implant positioning and postoperative outcomes, thereby reducing the need for revision surgery.

In the realm of body contouring, Dr. Soltero is celebrated for his transformative tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) procedures, which blend meticulous fascial tightening with strategic liposuction to restore a smooth, toned abdomen. He employs a progressive tension suture technique that reduces seroma formation and enhances wound healing, while his attention to aesthetic proportion ensures that the resulting silhouette harmonizes with the patient’s overall physique. For patients seeking a more comprehensive rejuvenation, he offers the “Mommy Makeover” package—a synergistic combination of breast lift, tummy tuck, and often liposuction or fat transfer—tailored to restore pre‑pregnancy confidence with a single, coordinated surgical plan.

Among his most sought‑after services are the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and autologous fat transfer procedures, which require a delicate balance of volumetric augmentation and tissue viability. Dr. Soltero utilizes a refined fat harvesting technique that preserves adipocyte integrity, followed by meticulous purification and strategic graft placement to sculpt a natural, proportionate gluteal contour. His expertise extends to facial aesthetics, where he performs rhinoplasty with an emphasis on preserving nasal function while achieving refined aesthetic goals, and he masterfully employs fat grafting to restore volume in the midface, lips, and hands. Across all these procedures, Dr. Soltero’s hallmark is an unwavering dedication to achieving results that are both aesthetically superior and biologically sound, ensuring lasting patient satisfaction.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety stands as the cornerstone of Dr. Soltero’s practice, a principle reinforced by his active involvement in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). As a board‑certified member of both organizations, he adheres to their stringent standards for ethical practice, continuous education, and peer review. He routinely participates in ASPS-sponsored workshops on surgical safety protocols, infection control, and postoperative care pathways, integrating these best practices into the daily operations of his San Diego clinic. His commitment to safety is also reflected in his meticulous pre‑operative assessment process, which includes comprehensive medical history reviews, laboratory testing, and personalized risk stratification to mitigate complications.

In 2022, he was honored as the “Best Plastic Surgeon – San Diego” by San Diego Magazine, a distinction that highlights his superior surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction scores, and contributions to the local medical community.
