Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Troell’s academic foundation was forged at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with honors. Immersed in a rigorous curriculum that emphasized both scientific inquiry and clinical acumen, he distinguished himself through research initiatives focused on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. His commitment to academic excellence was reflected in multiple scholarships, dean’s list recognitions, and a senior thesis that explored novel approaches to scar minimization—work that later informed his surgical techniques and patient counseling protocols.

Following medical school, Dr. Troell pursued a residency in Otolaryngology‑Head & Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), a program renowned for its demanding clinical exposure and pioneering research environment. During his five‑year residency, he honed his operative dexterity across a spectrum of complex procedures, ranging from intricate airway reconstructions to delicate facial nerve repairs. He was entrusted with high‑stakes cases that required precise microsurgical skill, and his performance earned him commendations for both technical proficiency and compassionate patient interaction. The UCSF experience also deepened his appreciation for multidisciplinary collaboration, as he routinely worked alongside oncologists, radiologists, and speech therapists to deliver comprehensive care.

To further specialize, Dr. Troell completed a Fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Southern California (USC), a distinguished program that melds aesthetic innovation with reconstructive mastery. Under the mentorship of world‑leading facial surgeons, he refined his expertise in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, and facial trauma reconstruction, mastering the delicate balance between artistic vision and anatomical precision. His fellowship research, published in several high‑impact journals, investigated the long‑term outcomes of autologous fat grafting and the role of 3‑D printing in custom facial implants, positioning him at the forefront of cutting‑edge surgical technology. This intensive training equipped Dr. Troell with a comprehensive skill set that seamlessly integrates aesthetic refinement with functional restoration.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Troell’s surgical repertoire spans the full spectrum of facial plastic surgery, encompassing both cosmetic enhancements and life‑changing reconstructive procedures. In cosmetic surgery, he is celebrated for his nuanced approach to rhinoplasty, where he combines an in‑depth anatomical understanding with an artistic eye to sculpt noses that are harmonious with each patient’s facial proportions. His mastery extends to facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid surgeries, where he employs minimally invasive techniques, such as endoscopic brow lifts and SMAS plication, to achieve natural, long‑lasting rejuvenation while minimizing downtime. Each procedure is meticulously planned using state‑of‑the‑art imaging and computer‑assisted design, ensuring that the anticipated outcome aligns precisely with the patient’s aesthetic goals.

Beyond facial aesthetics, Dr. Troell excels in body contouring, offering transformative procedures such as abdominoplasty, liposuction, and thigh lifts. His approach to body contouring is rooted in a comprehensive assessment of skin elasticity, fat distribution, and patient lifestyle, enabling him to tailor interventions that deliver balanced, proportional results. He incorporates advanced technologies like ultrasound‑assisted liposuction and laser‑enhanced skin tightening, which reduce postoperative swelling and accelerate recovery. This commitment to integrating innovative tools with refined surgical technique has earned him a reputation for delivering sculpted, enduring outcomes that empower patients to feel confident in their own bodies.

In the realm of reconstructive surgery, Dr. Troell’s skill set is equally formidable. He has performed complex facial reconstructions following oncologic resections, traumatic injuries, and congenital anomalies, utilizing microsurgical free flaps, composite grafts, and custom‑engineered implants. His reconstructions prioritize functional restoration—restoring speech, mastication, and vision—while also addressing aesthetic considerations, thereby delivering holistic patient rehabilitation. Notably, his work in facial nerve reanimation and scar revision has garnered peer recognition for restoring symmetry and improving quality of life for patients who have endured disfiguring conditions. Dr. Troell’s dedication to lifelong learning ensures that his reconstructive techniques continually evolve in line with the latest scientific advances, guaranteeing that patients receive the most effective and compassionate care available.
