Meet Robert H. Cohen: Philosophy and Approach
Dr. Robert H. Cohen’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that true beauty emanates from a harmonious blend of scientific precision, artistic vision, and compassionate patient care. From his earliest days in the operating room, he recognized that the surgeon’s role extends far beyond the technical execution of an incision; it encompasses an intimate dialogue with each patient, an understanding of their personal aspirations, and a commitment to preserving the unique narrative of their bodies. This holistic perspective drives every decision he makes, from the initial consultation to the final postoperative follow‑up, ensuring that each transformation is not merely a physical alteration but a deeply personal evolution that respects the patient’s identity, lifestyle, and long‑term well‑being.
In practice, Dr. Cohen translates his philosophy into a meticulously curated approach that balances cutting‑edge technology with timeless aesthetic principles. He emphasizes the importance of individualized treatment plans, rejecting a “one‑size‑fits‑all” methodology in favor of bespoke solutions that consider facial symmetry, body proportion, skin quality, and the patient’s own definition of ideal outcomes. By integrating advanced imaging software, three‑dimensional modeling, and a collaborative decision‑making process, he empowers patients to visualize potential results, ask informed questions, and set realistic expectations that align with both their desires and medical realities. This transparent, education‑focused strategy has become a hallmark of his practice, fostering trust and reducing anxiety for patients who often travel great distances to seek his expertise.
Beyond the operating theater, Dr. Cohen is an avid advocate for the ethical evolution of aesthetic medicine. He regularly contributes to scholarly journals, participates in panel discussions on patient safety, and mentors the next generation of plastic surgeons, instilling in them the same values of integrity, empathy, and artistic rigor that have defined his own career. His dedication to continuous learning and community engagement ensures that his practice remains at the forefront of innovation while staying firmly anchored in the core principles that first inspired him to pursue a career in plastic surgery.

Rigorous Medical Education and Training
Dr. Cohen earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he distinguished himself as a scholar‑practitioner with a keen interest in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. At UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, he excelled in both the basic sciences and clinical rotations, earning honors in anatomy, physiology, and surgical pathology. His academic record was complemented by a series of research projects that explored wound healing mechanisms, tissue engineering, and the psychosocial impact of facial reconstruction, laying a foundation for his later focus on patient‑centered aesthetic outcomes.
Following medical school, Dr. Cohen pursued a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Southern California (USC), an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and pioneering research in microsurgical techniques. During his six‑year residency, he rotated through high‑volume centers of trauma, oncology, and cosmetic surgery, gaining unparalleled experience in complex flap reconstructions, craniofacial anomalies, and breast reconstruction. His commitment to excellence earned him the Resident of the Year award, and he was selected to present his work on perforator flap innovations at the annual American Society of Plastic Surgeons meeting.
In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Cohen completed a fellowship in aesthetic plastic surgery at a leading private practice in Los Angeles, where he refined his skill set in facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and minimally invasive procedures. This fellowship emphasized the importance of meticulous pre‑operative planning, precision execution, and post‑operative care, reinforcing the philosophy that aesthetic surgery is as much an art as it is a science. The breadth and depth of his education, from academic research to hands‑on operative mastery, have equipped him with a comprehensive toolkit that he now brings to his Beverly Hills practice.
Throughout his educational journey, Dr. Cohen remained committed to scholarly pursuits, publishing over twenty peer‑reviewed articles in prestigious journals and serving as a reviewer for several leading plastic surgery publications. Surgical Expertise
Dr. Cohen’s surgical repertoire encompasses a broad spectrum of cosmetic surgery procedures, each performed with an unwavering focus on natural, harmonious results. He is renowned for his mastery of facial rejuvenation techniques, including facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid surgery, where he combines traditional open approaches with minimally invasive endoscopic methods to minimize scarring and accelerate recovery. In rhinoplasty, his nuanced understanding of nasal anatomy allows him to sculpt outcomes that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally sound, preserving airway integrity while achieving the desired contour. His breast aesthetic work—ranging from augmentation and lift to reduction and mastopexy—reflects a deep respect for proportion, symmetry, and the patient’s personal goals, resulting in outcomes that enhance confidence without compromising natural movement.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Cohen has embraced the rapidly evolving field of non‑invasive cosmetic procedures, offering patients a suite of treatments that deliver remarkable improvements without the need for incision or downtime. He expertly administers dermal fillers, neuromodulators, and advanced laser resurfacing, tailoring each protocol to the unique skin type, age, and aesthetic aspirations of his clientele. His expertise in volumizing techniques, such as fat grafting and platelet‑rich plasma therapy, enables him to restore youthful contours and improve skin texture while harnessing the body’s own regenerative capacities. By staying at the forefront of technology—utilizing ultrasound‑guided injection systems, radiofrequency microneedling, and fractional laser platforms—he ensures that patients receive the safest, most effective, and longest‑lasting results available.
The aesthetic plastic surgery arm of Dr. Cohen’s practice is distinguished by a commitment to comprehensive, full‑body transformation. He performs body contouring procedures such as liposuction, abdominoplasty, and thigh lifts with a focus on preserving natural lines and ensuring functional integrity. His approach to body sculpting emphasizes a balanced aesthetic, where the removal of excess tissue is paired with the strategic placement of implants or autologous fat to achieve a harmonious silhouette. In each case, he meticulously plans incision placement, tissue handling, and postoperative protocols to reduce complications and promote optimal healing.
What truly sets Dr. Cohen apart is his ability to integrate these varied modalities into a cohesive, patient‑centered treatment plan. Whether a patient seeks a subtle enhancement through injectable therapies or a comprehensive facial and body rejuvenation, he conducts thorough consultations, employs state‑of‑the‑art imaging, and crafts individualized surgical roadmaps that align with the patient’s lifestyle, expectations, and long‑term maintenance goals. This integrated approach not only maximizes aesthetic outcomes but also fosters lasting relationships built on trust, education, and shared success.
