Dr. Nicholas Galardi - Plastic Surgeon in Virginia Beach, VA

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Nicholas Galardi earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from a nationally recognized medical school renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on research excellence. During his pre‑clinical years, he distinguished himself in anatomy, physiology, and histology, consistently ranking in the top decile of his class. His early exposure to cadaveric dissection ignited a fascination with the intricate layers of the human body, laying a foundational appreciation for the precise manipulation of tissues that would later become essential in his plastic surgery practice. Complementing his academic achievements, Dr. Galardi engaged in multiple summer research projects, contributing to peer‑reviewed publications on wound healing and scar formation, which underscored his commitment to evidence‑based medicine.

Following medical school, Dr. Galardi pursued a competitive residency in general surgery at a leading university hospital, where he refined his operative skills across a spectrum of complex procedures ranging from abdominal emergencies to oncologic resections. His residency was marked by a relentless pursuit of technical mastery, evidenced by his early adoption of laparoscopic and robotic platforms, which enhanced his dexterity and spatial awareness. Throughout this period, he also served as a chief resident, overseeing a team of interns and junior residents, and honing his leadership abilities, teaching acumen, and capacity to make decisive judgments under pressure.

Recognizing his passion for aesthetic medicine, Dr. Galardi secured a coveted fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at a prestigious academic center known for its innovative approach to aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. During this fellowship, he rotated through subspecialties including craniofacial reconstruction, hand surgery, and microsurgical free‑tissue transfer, gaining a comprehensive perspective on the functional and cosmetic dimensions of plastic surgery. He also completed dedicated rotations in aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring, and facial rejuvenation, where he meticulously refined techniques such as inframammary fold positioning, tumescent liposuction, and layered closure methods. His fellowship culminated in a scholarly project investigating the long‑term outcomes of autologous fat grafting, which was later presented at a national plastic surgery conference, cementing his reputation as a clinician‑researcher capable of bridging the gap between scientific inquiry and clinical practice.

Surgical Expertise

In the realm of breast augmentation, Dr. Galardi has become a recognized authority for his nuanced approach to implant selection, pocket dissection, and aesthetic balance. He meticulously evaluates each patient’s thoracic anatomy, skin quality, and aesthetic goals, employing three‑dimensional imaging to simulate post‑operative outcomes and guide implant choice—whether silicone, saline, or cohesive gel. His expertise extends to both primary augmentations and complex revisionary cases, where he navigates challenges such as capsular contracture, implant malposition, and asymmetry with precision. By mastering both submuscular and dual‑plane techniques, Dr. Galardi achieves natural‑appearing results that harmonize with the patient’s breast footprint, nipple‑to‑sternum distance, and overall body proportions, thereby minimizing the need for future interventions.

Liposuction, a cornerstone of Dr. Galardi’s body‑contouring repertoire, is performed with an emphasis on safety, sculptural artistry, and preservation of vascular integrity. He utilizes state‑of‑the‑art ultrasonic and power‑assist devices that selectively emulsify adipose tissue while protecting surrounding nerves and blood vessels. This technology allows for the removal of large volumes of fat with reduced trauma, resulting in smoother contours, diminished postoperative bruising, and faster recovery. Dr. Galardi’s strategic approach to liposuction involves a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s adipose distribution, skin laxity, and underlying musculature, enabling him to create harmonious silhouettes that accentuate natural lines and enhance overall proportion. He also integrates adjunctive procedures such as fat grafting, wherein harvested adipocytes are processed and reinjected to restore volume in areas such as the face, hands, or breasts, thereby delivering a synergistic rejuvenation effect.

When it comes to abdominoplasty, or the “tummy tuck,” Dr. Galardi blends meticulous surgical planning with refined technique to achieve durable, aesthetically pleasing results. He begins each case with a thorough evaluation of abdominal wall integrity, diastasis recti severity, and excess skin redundancy, often employing pre‑operative ultrasound to map fascial defects. During the procedure, he employs progressive tension sutures and selective liposuction to minimize tension on the incision line, thereby reducing the risk of wound dehiscence and hypertrophic scarring. In addition to traditional full‑width abdominoplasty, Dr. Galardi is proficient in mini‑tucks, fleur‑de‑lis designs, and combined procedures that address flank rolls and lateral thigh contouring. His commitment to preserving the neurovascular supply of the abdominal skin ensures optimal healing, while his meticulous layered closure technique yields a flat, toned abdomen that aligns with the patient’s aesthetic aspirations.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Dr. Nicholas Galardi’s dedication to patient safety is reflected in his active participation in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the premier professional organization that sets the gold standard for ethical practice, education, and patient protection in aesthetic medicine. As a board‑certified member, he adheres to ASPS’s rigorous guidelines for operative protocols, infection control, and postoperative monitoring, ensuring that every procedure is performed within a framework of evidence‑based best practices. Dr. Galardi regularly attends ASPS-sponsored workshops, webinars, and symposiums, where he engages with leading experts on emerging safety technologies, such as intra‑operative nerve monitoring and advanced hemostatic agents, integrating these innovations into his own practice to further mitigate risk.

Beyond organizational affiliation, Dr. Galardi’s practice has been repeatedly honored with the Patient Choice Award, a distinction bestowed upon physicians who consistently demonstrate exceptional patient satisfaction, transparent communication, and uncompromising safety standards. This award is predicated on a rigorous review of patient feedback, postoperative complication rates, and adherence to informed consent protocols. The recognition underscores Dr. Galardi’s commitment to creating a surgical environment where patients feel empowered, well‑informed, and confident that their well‑being is the paramount priority. In his clinic, he employs a multi‑layered safety net that includes pre‑operative medical clearance, standardized surgical checklists, and a dedicated peri‑operative nursing team trained in the latest anesthesia and monitoring techniques.

In the operating suite, Dr. Galardi implements a comprehensive risk mitigation strategy that begins with a thorough pre‑operative assessment, including detailed medical history, laboratory work, and imaging as indicated. He utilizes a collaborative approach, consulting with anesthesiologists, cardiologists, and endocrinologists when complex comorbidities are present, thereby tailoring anesthesia plans to each patient’s physiological profile. Intra‑operatively, he employs real‑time vital sign monitoring, capnography, and temperature regulation to maintain homeostasis. Post‑operative care is equally meticulous; patients receive personalized discharge instructions, scheduled follow‑up visits, and 24‑hour access to a dedicated nurse line for any concerns. This continuum of care not only minimizes the incidence of complications such as infection, hematoma, or seroma but also cultivates a culture of safety that permeates every facet of his practice.
