Dr. Michael Nazareth - Plastic Surgeon in Williamsburg, NY

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Michael Nazareth earned his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, a distinguished institution within the State University of New York (SUNY) system renowned for its rigorous curriculum and research‑intensive environment. During his tenure at Buffalo, he excelled academically, receiving honors for his contributions to clinical research on cutaneous malignancies and reconstructive techniques. His undergraduate foundation in biomedical sciences equipped him with a deep understanding of cellular pathology, immunology, and the intricate interplay of genetics and environmental factors that influence skin health and aesthetic outcomes. This scholarly grounding laid the groundwork for his later specialization in both dermatology and plastic surgery.

Following medical school, Dr. Nazareth pursued a comprehensive residency in dermatology, where he honed his diagnostic acumen and refined his surgical skill set under the mentorship of nationally recognized experts in cutaneous oncology and reconstructive dermatologic surgery. His residency program emphasized a balanced exposure to medical dermatology, procedural dermatology, and complex skin cancer management, allowing him to master techniques ranging from Mohs micrographic surgery to advanced laser therapies. Throughout his training, he demonstrated an exceptional ability to integrate evidence‑based medical practices with innovative surgical interventions, earning commendations for both his clinical judgment and his compassionate patient interactions.

In addition to his formal residency, Dr. Nazareth completed multiple fellowships that expanded his expertise into high‑risk occupational dermatology and aesthetic reconstructive surgery. These fellowships provided him with hands‑on experience in managing occupational dermatoses, such as chronic contact dermatitis and pigmentary disorders, which often require nuanced treatment plans that balance functional restoration with cosmetic considerations. His dedication to lifelong learning is further evidenced by his participation in numerous continuing medical education (CME) courses, workshops, and international conferences, where he remains at the forefront of emerging technologies such as 3‑D printing for custom implants and regenerative medicine techniques that enhance wound healing and scar minimization.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Nazareth’s surgical repertoire encompasses a broad spectrum of dermatologic and aesthetic procedures, reflecting a seamless integration of his dual training in dermatology and plastic surgery. In the realm of medical dermatology, he is a recognized authority on the diagnosis and management of inflammatory skin disorders, pigmentary abnormalities, and autoimmune dermatoses, employing cutting‑edge topical, systemic, and biologic therapies to achieve disease control while preserving skin integrity. His expertise in skin cancer management is particularly notable; he has performed thousands of Mohs micrographic surgeries, excisions of high‑risk basal cell carcinomas, and melanoma resections, consistently achieving clear margins and optimal functional and cosmetic results.

Beyond oncologic surgery, Dr. Nazareth is adept at a wide array of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures that address both congenital and acquired skin defects. He routinely performs facial rejuvenation techniques, including facelifts, eyelid surgeries, and non‑invasive volume restoration using autologous fat grafting and dermal fillers. His meticulous approach to scar revision leverages fractional laser resurfacing, subcision, and precise excisional techniques to minimize tension and reduce hyperpigmentation, delivering outcomes that blend seamlessly with surrounding tissue. In high‑risk occupational dermatology, he utilizes specialized reconstructive strategies to restore function and appearance for patients whose work environments expose them to repetitive trauma or chemical irritants.

Dr. Nazareth’s commitment to innovation is evident in his adoption of emerging technologies such as radiofrequency‑assisted liposuction, laser‑assisted skin resurfacing, and regenerative stem‑cell therapies. He continuously evaluates the scientific literature to incorporate evidence‑based practices that enhance patient recovery, reduce postoperative complications, and improve aesthetic longevity. His surgical philosophy emphasizes meticulous preoperative planning, precise intraoperative execution, and a comprehensive postoperative regimen that includes scar management, physiotherapy, and patient education, ensuring that each patient’s journey from consultation to final result is seamless and supportive.

Dr. Nazareth’s safety initiatives extend beyond membership; he has been honored with the Dermatology Excellence Award in 2022 by the Western New York Dermatology Association, acknowledging his exemplary clinical outcomes, mentorship of junior physicians, and leadership in community outreach programs that promote skin cancer awareness and early detection. In 2021, he received the High‑Risk Skin Cancer Research Recognition, a testament to his pioneering work in identifying genetic markers and environmental risk factors that predispose patients to aggressive cutaneous malignancies. These accolades reflect his relentless pursuit of knowledge and his proactive stance in translating research findings into safer, more effective patient care protocols.

Operationally, Dr. Nazareth has instituted a comprehensive safety framework within his Williamsburg clinic that integrates preoperative risk stratification, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative surveillance. He employs standardized checklists, adheres to the Joint Commission’s surgical safety protocols, and utilizes state‑of‑the‑art sterilization techniques to minimize infection risk. His postoperative care pathways include personalized wound‑care regimens, telemedicine follow‑ups for early complication detection, and multidisciplinary case reviews that involve dermatologists, oncologists, and physical therapists.
