Surgical Expertise

In the realm of breast augmentation, Dr. Melissa Toyos distinguishes herself through a nuanced understanding of both implant technology and the aesthetic goals of each patient. She employs a patient‑specific algorithm that evaluates chest wall dimensions, soft‑tissue thickness, and desired projection to select the optimal implant size, shape, and surface texture. Whether utilizing silicone gel, cohesive gel, or saline implants, Dr. Toyos meticulously plans incision placement—whether inframammary, periareolar, or transaxillary—to minimize visible scarring while preserving nipple‑areolar complex sensitivity. Her mastery of submuscular and subglandular pocket creation ensures stable positioning, reducing the risk of capsular contracture and implant malposition. Moreover, she integrates advanced imaging software to simulate postoperative outcomes, allowing patients to visualize realistic expectations and make informed decisions. Post‑operative protocols are tailored to each individual, incorporating compression garments, targeted physiotherapy, and vigilant monitoring for early signs of infection or seroma, thereby fostering a seamless recovery and long‑lasting aesthetic results.

Liposuction, a cornerstone of Dr. Toyos’s body‑contouring repertoire, is performed with an emphasis on preserving vital structures and optimizing fat‑cell viability for potential autologous fat transfer. She utilizes a combination of tumescent infiltration, power‑assisted liposuction (PAL), and ultrasonic‑assisted liposuction (UAL) to achieve precise, uniform removal of adipose tissue from targeted regions such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and posterior neck. By employing a strategic approach that respects the natural fascial planes, Dr. Toyos minimizes postoperative bruising and edema while enhancing the smoothness of the final contour. In cases where patients desire simultaneous facial rejuvenation, she harvests excess fat for grafting, applying meticulous centrifugation and purification techniques to ensure maximal graft survival. Her comprehensive perioperative regimen includes pre‑operative nutritional counseling, intra‑operative fluid management, and postoperative compression protocols, all designed to expedite healing, reduce seroma formation, and achieve harmonious, long‑lasting body sculpting.

The abdominal contouring procedure known as abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, is another area where Dr. Toyos’s surgical precision shines. She approaches each case with a thorough assessment of abdominal wall laxity, diastasis recti severity, and excess skin distribution, crafting a customized operative plan that may incorporate full, mini, or extended tummy tuck techniques. Dr. Toyos employs meticulous dissection methods to preserve perforating vessels, thereby maintaining robust blood supply to the abdominal skin flap and minimizing the risk of necrosis. When addressing diastasis recti, she utilizes layered plication sutures that restore functional integrity to the core musculature, enhancing both aesthetic appearance and postoperative core strength. For patients seeking concurrent liposuction, she integrates targeted fat removal to refine flank contours while maintaining the safety of the combined procedure. Post‑operative care includes staged compression garments, scar management protocols utilizing silicone sheeting, and a graduated activity plan that balances early mobilization with protection of the surgical site, ensuring optimal healing and a smooth, natural abdominal silhouette.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Dr. Melissa Toyos’s unwavering dedication to patient safety is reflected in her active participation in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), where she adheres to the organization’s rigorous standards for ethical practice, continuous education, and peer review. As a member of ASPS, she regularly engages in accredited workshops that emphasize the latest advances in operative techniques, infection control, and perioperative patient monitoring. She has contributed to the development of ASPS guidelines on safe implant usage, advocating for evidence‑based practices that reduce complications such as capsular contracture and implant malposition. Her involvement extends to mentorship programs within ASPS, where she shares best practices with emerging surgeons, underscoring the importance of meticulous sterile technique, precise anatomical knowledge, and vigilant postoperative surveillance. By aligning her practice with the Society’s stringent safety protocols, Dr. Toyos ensures that every patient benefits from a framework that prioritizes risk mitigation and optimal outcomes.
