Following medical school, Dr. Peters pursued a competitive residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, a program known for its high case volume and diverse patient population. Over the course of his residency, he refined his technical skills across a spectrum of procedures ranging from complex microsurgical free‑flap reconstructions to nuanced facial aesthetic enhancements. He completed over 1,200 operative cases, including craniofacial trauma repairs, breast reconstructions post‑mastectomy, and advanced body contouring techniques. His residency mentors lauded his dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to remain composed under pressure—qualities that are indispensable in high‑stakes surgical environments. This fellowship, conducted under the auspices of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, provided him with unparalleled access to state‑of‑the‑art technologies such as ultrasonic liposuction, 3‑D facial imaging, and laser‑assisted skin resurfacing. He also participated in a rigorous cadaveric dissection program that deepened his anatomical knowledge, particularly of the intricate vascular networks of the face and torso. Throughout his fellowship, Dr. Peters was recognized for his innovative approach to patient safety, developing protocols that reduced intra‑operative blood loss and improved postoperative recovery times. Surgical Expertise

Dr. Mark H. Peters possesses a comprehensive command of plastic surgery, encompassing both reconstructive and aesthetic domains. In the realm of reconstructive surgery, he has managed complex cases that require meticulous planning and execution, such as post‑traumatic facial reconstruction, oncologic resections, and congenital anomaly corrections. His proficiency in microsurgical techniques enables him to perform free‑flap transfers with high success rates, restoring both form and function to patients who have suffered devastating injuries or disease. Dr. Peters’ reconstructive repertoire also includes innovative scar revision strategies, employing laser technology and subcision methods to achieve optimal cosmetic outcomes while preserving tissue integrity.

In aesthetic surgery, Dr. Peters is celebrated for his artistry in facial rejuvenation, a discipline that demands a delicate balance between preserving natural expression and achieving youthful vitality. He utilizes a combination of facelift procedures, brow lifts, and minimally invasive modalities such as injectable fillers and neuromodulators to tailor interventions to each patient’s unique facial architecture. His breast augmentation practice is distinguished by a nuanced understanding of implant selection, placement techniques, and postoperative contouring, ensuring that each patient achieves a harmonious silhouette that aligns with their body proportions and personal preferences. Dr. Peters also excels in body contouring, offering advanced procedures such as abdominoplasty, thigh lifts, and arm lifts, all performed with a focus on minimizing scarring and maximizing aesthetic smoothness.

Beyond individual procedures, Dr. Peters integrates a holistic approach to surgical planning, emphasizing the interdependence of various anatomical regions. For example, when addressing breast reconstruction, he considers the impact on the back and shoulders, recommending adjunctive procedures such as latissimus dorsi flap reinforcement or autologous fat grafting to enhance overall symmetry. In facial rejuvenation, he coordinates skin resurfacing, volume restoration, and ligament tightening in a staged manner to achieve natural, progressive results. This comprehensive perspective, combined with his mastery of emerging technologies such as radiofrequency-assisted tissue tightening and high‑definition liposuction, positions Dr. Peters as a surgeon who delivers outcomes that are both technically superb and aesthetically resonant.
