From his earliest days in medicine, he recognized that the art of plastic surgery extends far beyond the operating room, encompassing a holistic view of patient wellness, self‑esteem, and long‑term aesthetic harmony. This conviction drives every consultation, where he listens intently to patients’ aspirations, concerns, and lifestyle considerations, translating them into realistic, personalized treatment plans that honor both the science of tissue manipulation and the subtle nuances of human beauty. Marco’s approach is anchored in the belief that successful outcomes arise from a partnership between surgeon and patient, where transparency, empathy, and education are as vital as technical skill.
Central to Dr. Barusco’s methodology is a commitment to evidence‑based practice, continuously integrating the latest advances in regenerative medicine, microsurgical techniques, and aesthetic theory. He meticulously evaluates each case through a multidisciplinary lens, often collaborating with dermatologists, endocrinologists, and mental health professionals to ensure that surgical interventions complement the patient’s overall health profile. Rigorous Medical Education and Training
Dr. Barusco earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on innovative research. During his medical school tenure, he distinguished himself academically and clinically, earning honors for his contributions to peer‑reviewed publications on wound healing and tissue regeneration. His formative years at UCF were marked by a relentless curiosity about the interplay between surgical technique and biological response, laying a solid foundation for his future specialization in plastic and cosmetic surgery.
Following medical school, Marco pursued a demanding residency in General Surgery at the University of Central Florida Medical Center. This residency provided him with a broad exposure to complex abdominal, thoracic, and vascular procedures, sharpening his dexterity, decision‑making acuity, and ability to manage high‑stakes operative environments. Throughout his residency, he was repeatedly selected for advanced operative workshops and was a key participant in the center’s trauma response team, experiences that honed his capability to perform under pressure while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
Recognizing the transformative potential of hair restoration, Dr. Barusco completed a prestigious Fellowship in Hair Restoration Surgery, accredited by the International Society of Hair Restoration (ISHRS). The fellowship immersed him in cutting‑edge techniques such as follicular unit extraction (FUE), robotic hair transplantation, and stem‑cell‑enhanced graft preservation. Under the mentorship of leading global experts, he mastered the delicate balance of aesthetic design, donor‑site management, and postoperative care that defines successful hair restoration. His commitment to lifelong learning was further solidified by active participation in ISHRS conferences, where he presented original research on graft survival rates and contributed to the development of new surgical protocols.
Surgical Expertise
Dr. Barusco’s surgical repertoire spans a wide spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, each performed with a focus on natural results and patient safety. In the realm of hair restoration, he is celebrated for his ability to recreate density, direction, and texture that seamlessly blend with existing hair, delivering outcomes that are virtually indistinguishable from natural growth. His expertise extends to both FUE and FUT (follicular unit transplantation) techniques, allowing him to tailor the approach to each patient’s unique donor characteristics and aesthetic goals. Moreover, he integrates adjunctive therapies such as platelet‑rich plasma (PRP) and low‑level laser therapy to enhance graft viability and accelerate healing.
Beyond hair restoration, Dr. Barusco is a board‑certified plastic surgeon with a distinguished focus on facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and breast aesthetics. His facial procedures—ranging from rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty to comprehensive facelifts—are guided by a nuanced understanding of facial anatomy and proportion, ensuring that each intervention respects the patient’s inherent features while achieving a refreshed, youthful appearance. In body contouring, he employs advanced liposuction technologies, including laser‑assisted and ultrasound‑assisted lipolysis, to sculpt the silhouette with minimal invasiveness and maximal precision.
Marco’s commitment to trichology, the scientific study of hair and scalp health, positions him at the intersection of medicine and aesthetics. He routinely conducts comprehensive scalp analyses, employing dermatoscopic imaging and histopathologic evaluation to diagnose conditions such as alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia, and scarring disorders. This diagnostic acumen informs his therapeutic strategies, which often combine surgical restoration with medical management—utilizing topical agents, oral therapeutics, and lifestyle modifications—to achieve durable, holistic outcomes for his patients.
Commitment to Patient Safety
Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Barusco’s practice, a principle reinforced by his active memberships in several premier professional societies. As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), he stays abreast of the latest dermatologic innovations, ensuring that his surgical interventions are complemented by evidence‑based skin care protocols. His affiliation with the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) further underscores his dedication to adhering to the highest standards of ethical practice, peer review, and continuous quality improvement within the aesthetic surgical community.
Dr. Barusco’s contributions to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) have been recognized with the President’s Award for Excellence in Hair Restoration, a distinction reserved for surgeons who demonstrate unparalleled skill, innovative research, and a steadfast commitment to patient education. This accolade reflects his role in advancing the field through both clinical excellence and scholarly activity, including published studies on graft preservation techniques and the long‑term efficacy of combination therapies. Additionally, his Lifetime Achievement Award in Trichology celebrates a career devoted to unraveling the complexities of hair biology and translating that knowledge into safer, more effective treatments.
Beyond accolades, Dr. Barusco implements a comprehensive safety framework within his clinic. Pre‑operative assessments include detailed medical histories, laboratory evaluations, and risk stratification models that identify potential complications before they arise. Intra‑operatively, he utilizes advanced monitoring systems, sterile barrier technologies, and meticulous hemostasis protocols to minimize infection and bleeding risks. Post‑operative care is equally rigorous, featuring personalized recovery plans, real‑time telemedicine follow‑ups, and a 24‑hour hotline staffed by trained clinicians to address any concerns promptly. This multilayered safety net ensures that every patient’s journey—from consultation to final result—is conducted with the utmost vigilance and care.
