His dedication to academic excellence was recognized with multiple honors, including the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence and the Harvard Scholars Fellowship, underscoring his commitment to both patient care and scientific discovery.
Following his medical degree, Dr. Lu pursued his residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, a program renowned for its rigorous surgical curriculum and emphasis on hands‑on experience. His performance earned him the Resident’s Choice Award for Outstanding Surgical Skill, reflecting his ability to translate complex concepts into precise, patient‑focused interventions.
To further refine his expertise, Dr. Lu completed a fellowship in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery at a nationally accredited center, where he was mentored by pioneering surgeons who had shaped modern aesthetic practice. Beyond facial aesthetics, Dr. Lu excels in body contouring procedures such as abdominoplasty, liposuction, and thigh lifts, employing state‑of‑the‑art technologies like power‑assisted liposuction and ultrasonic-assisted fat removal to minimize tissue trauma and optimize postoperative recovery. His expertise extends to breast surgery, where he performs augmentation, reduction, and reconstruction with a focus on achieving symmetry, natural feel, and long‑term durability. In reconstructive surgery, Dr. Lu has tackled complex cases involving oncologic resections, traumatic injuries, and congenital anomalies, employing microsurgical free‑flap techniques and innovative tissue‑expansion strategies to restore both form and function. His dedication to meticulous planning and execution has earned him a reputation as a surgeon capable of delivering life‑changing results even in the most challenging clinical scenarios.
Dr. Lu’s commitment to continual advancement is evident in his adoption of emerging technologies such as three‑dimensional imaging, intra‑operative navigation, and regenerative medicine adjuncts. He frequently integrates platelet‑rich plasma (PRP) and stem‑cell enrichment into his procedures to enhance wound healing and improve scar quality. Moreover, his practice embraces a comprehensive postoperative protocol that includes personalized physiotherapy, nutritional counseling, and scar management, ensuring that patients experience optimal outcomes and sustained satisfaction.
