Dr. Laurence C. Miller - Plastic Surgeon in Ardsley, NY

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Laurence C. Miller earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Harvard Medical School, where he distinguished himself not only academically but also as a leader among his peers. At Harvard, he cultivated a foundation in evidence‑based medicine, participating in groundbreaking research on pulmonary physiology and the cellular mechanisms of wound repair. His commitment to scholarly excellence was recognized with several honors, including the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence and a research fellowship that produced publications in high‑impact journals. This academic rigor forged a scientific mindset that continues to inform his surgical practice.

Following medical school, Dr. Miller completed a residency in Internal Medicine at NewYork‑Presbyterian Hospital, one of the nation’s premier teaching hospitals. During his three‑year residency, he rotated through intensive care units, cardiology wards, and general medicine services, gaining a comprehensive understanding of systemic disease processes and patient management. The experience honed his diagnostic acumen and sharpened his ability to manage complex comorbidities—skills that are indispensable when evaluating patients for elective cosmetic procedures. He earned the internal medicine board certification with distinction, reflecting his mastery of the discipline.

To deepen his expertise in respiratory health, Dr. Miller pursued a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. The fellowship immersed him in the management of acute respiratory failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and intricate ventilator strategies. He also participated in multidisciplinary research projects exploring the impact of novel bronchodilators on airway remodeling, work that earned him recognition at national conferences. This fellowship not only solidified his command of critical care principles but also introduced him to advanced procedural techniques such as bronchoscopic interventions and airway stenting.

The culmination of his training in internal medicine, pulmonology, and critical care uniquely equips Dr. Miller to assess surgical candidates with a depth of insight rarely found among plastic surgeons. His ability to evaluate cardiopulmonary reserve, anticipate peri‑operative complications, and implement evidence‑based peri‑operative protocols ensures that every patient receives a care plan that is both safe and tailored to their individual physiological profile.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Miller’s surgical repertoire is a seamless integration of his internal medicine foundation and his specialized training in aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. In the realm of cosmetic surgery, he is renowned for his mastery of facial rejuvenation techniques, including facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid surgery. Utilizing a combination of traditional open approaches and minimally invasive endoscopic methods, he achieves natural‑looking results while minimizing scarring and downtime. His expertise extends to rhinoplasty, where he balances structural integrity with aesthetic proportion, often employing cartilage grafting techniques honed during his pulmonary fellowship.

Beyond facial aesthetics, Dr. Miller is a leading practitioner of non‑invasive body sculpting modalities. He incorporates cutting‑edge technologies such as cryolipolysis, high‑intensity focused ultrasound, and radiofrequency‑assisted skin tightening to sculpt the abdomen, flanks, and thighs without the need for surgical excision. These procedures are complemented by his in‑depth knowledge of metabolic health, allowing him to advise patients on nutrition, exercise, and hormonal optimization to sustain long‑term results. His approach to body contouring is holistic, integrating lifestyle counseling with procedural precision.

In the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Miller addresses complex defects resulting from trauma, oncologic resection, or congenital anomalies. His experience in microsurgical techniques enables him to perform free‑tissue transfers, reconstructive breast surgery, and intricate hand reconstructions. He frequently collaborates with multidisciplinary teams—including oncologists, orthopedic surgeons, and physical therapists—to develop comprehensive treatment plans that restore both form and function. His reconstructive work is characterized by meticulous tissue handling, vascular preservation, and a commitment to achieving symmetry and durability.

Dr. Miller’s dedication to aesthetic medicine also encompasses a robust practice in facial injectables, laser resurfacing, and skin rejuvenation. He stays at the forefront of product development, regularly attending international workshops on the latest neurotoxin formulations, dermal filler technologies, and combination therapies. By customizing injection patterns and layering techniques, he delivers subtle enhancements that respect each patient’s unique facial architecture. His aesthetic medicine practice is underpinned by a rigorous safety protocol that includes pre‑procedure screening, real‑time imaging, and postoperative monitoring, ensuring that every intervention meets the highest standards of efficacy and safety.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Miller’s practice, a principle reinforced by his active participation in several prestigious professional societies. As a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), he adheres to the ACP’s guidelines for evidence‑based clinical practice, ensuring that every decision is rooted in validated research. His affiliation with the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) reflects his ongoing dedication to pulmonary health, allowing him to incorporate the latest respiratory safety measures into peri‑operative care, particularly for patients with underlying lung disease.

Dr. Miller’s involvement with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) provides him with access to a global network of plastic surgeons, continuous education, and the most recent consensus statements on surgical safety. Through ASPS, he participates in peer‑reviewed morbidity and mortality conferences, where he contributes case analyses that improve collective knowledge and refine safety protocols. His membership in the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM) further underscores his commitment to maintaining the highest standards in non‑surgical aesthetic treatments, where he follows rigorous certification processes and undergoes regular competency assessments.

Recognition of Dr. Miller’s safety‑focused practice is reflected in numerous awards and accolades. In 2022, Westchester Magazine honored him with the Top Doctor Award, citing his exemplary patient outcomes, low complication rates, and transparent communication style. The following year, he received the Best Aesthetic Physician award at the New York Aesthetic Awards, a testament to his ability to blend artistic vision with uncompromising safety standards. These honors are not merely decorative; they serve as external validation of a practice built on meticulous risk assessment, evidence‑based protocols, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Beyond formal affiliations, Dr. Miller has instituted a comprehensive patient safety program within his Ardsley clinic. The program includes pre‑operative optimization clinics staffed by board‑certified anesthesiologists, nutritionists, and physical therapists who evaluate each patient’s readiness for surgery. Intra‑operatively, he employs advanced monitoring technologies, including continuous arterial pressure measurement and cerebral oximetry, to detect early signs of physiological compromise. Post‑operatively, a dedicated recovery team follows each patient closely, employing standardized checklists that align with the World Health Organization’s Surgical Safety Checklist, thereby reducing the incidence of adverse events and ensuring a smooth transition to home care.
