Dr. Laura Roider - Plastic Surgeon in Littleton, CO

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Laura Roider earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri‑Columbia School of Medicine, where she distinguished herself academically and clinically. During her time at Mizzou, she pursued a breadth of research projects that explored wound healing, scar modulation, and the molecular pathways underlying tissue regeneration. Her dissertation, which investigated the role of growth factor signaling in postoperative scar formation, was later published in a peer‑reviewed journal and laid the groundwork for her future interest in reconstructive surgery. The rigorous curriculum at the University of Missouri‑Columbia, combined with hands‑on clinical rotations in general surgery, dermatology, and orthopedic trauma, provided Dr. Roider with a comprehensive understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of plastic surgery.

Following medical school, Dr. Roider entered the Integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency at Saint Louis University, a program renowned for its blend of aesthetic and reconstructive training. Over the course of her six‑year residency, she rotated through high‑volume centers for craniofacial reconstruction, microsurgical free‑flap transfer, breast oncology reconstruction, and aesthetic facial surgery. Each rotation demanded a mastery of intricate microsurgical techniques, a deep appreciation for three‑dimensional anatomy, and the ability to navigate complex patient cases with poise and precision. Dr. Roider’s commitment to excellence earned her the distinction of Chief Resident for the 2024‑2025 academic year, a role in which she led a team of peers, coordinated operative schedules, and mentored junior residents through challenging procedures.

Throughout her residency, Dr. Roider pursued additional fellowships and certifications to refine her expertise. She completed a one‑year aesthetic surgery fellowship that focused on advanced facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and minimally invasive technologies such as laser resurfacing and radiofrequency tightening. Simultaneously, she earned board certification in plastic surgery, passing both the American Board of Plastic Surgery written examination and the oral certifying exam with commendable scores. Her dedication to lifelong learning is reflected in her ongoing participation in national conferences, workshops, and cadaveric labs, where she stays abreast of innovations ranging from tissue engineering to regenerative medicine.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Roider’s surgical repertoire spans the full spectrum of plastic surgery, encompassing aesthetic, reconstructive, and complex microsurgical procedures. In aesthetic surgery, she is acclaimed for her meticulous approach to facial rejuvenation, including facelift techniques that preserve neurovascular structures while delivering natural, age‑appropriate results. Her expertise extends to rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, and otoplasty, where she combines traditional open methods with contemporary minimally invasive strategies to reduce operative time and postoperative discomfort. Patients frequently commend her ability to achieve subtle enhancements that harmonize with their existing features, underscoring her commitment to individualized artistry.

In the realm of breast surgery, Dr. Roider offers a comprehensive suite of services ranging from augmentation and lift to oncoplastic reconstruction. She employs state‑of‑the‑art implant selection protocols, leveraging three‑dimensional imaging to predict postoperative outcomes and guide implant placement. For patients undergoing mastectomy, she performs autologous tissue reconstruction using transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flaps, deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flaps, and newer perforator‑based techniques that minimize donor‑site morbidity while delivering durable, aesthetically pleasing results. Her reconstructive philosophy prioritizes the restoration of breast symmetry and sensation, often incorporating nerve coaptation and fat grafting to enhance the tactile experience for patients.

Dr. Roider’s reconstructive acumen also encompasses complex wound management, burn reconstruction, and craniofacial surgery. She has successfully performed microsurgical free‑flap transfers to salvage limbs after traumatic injury, employing meticulous anastomotic techniques that ensure flap viability and functional restoration. Her work in pediatric craniofacial reconstruction includes correction of craniosynostosis, cleft palate repair, and facial asymmetry correction, where she collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams of orthodontists, speech therapists, and neuro‑developmental specialists. By integrating cutting‑edge technologies such as 3‑D printed surgical guides and intraoperative navigation, Dr. Roider enhances precision, reduces operative time, and improves postoperative outcomes across all domains of her practice.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Laura Roider’s practice, a principle reinforced by her active involvement with leading professional societies. As a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), she adheres to the organization’s stringent standards for ethical practice, continuous education, and patient advocacy. Dr. Roider regularly contributes to ASPS task forces that develop evidence‑based guidelines for peri‑operative care, infection control, and postoperative monitoring, ensuring that her clinical protocols reflect the latest consensus recommendations. Her participation in ASPS’s patient safety initiatives also includes the development of educational materials that empower patients to make informed decisions about their surgical options.

In addition to her ASPS affiliation, Dr. Roider holds active membership in the American College of Surgeons (ACS), an organization that emphasizes surgical excellence through rigorous peer review, quality improvement programs, and a commitment to surgical safety culture. Through ACS’s Surgical Patient Safety Committee, she has helped design check‑list protocols that streamline pre‑operative verification, intra‑operative communication, and postoperative follow‑up. These protocols have been integrated into her office’s standard operating procedures, resulting in measurable reductions in surgical site infections and unplanned readmissions. Dr. Roider’s dedication to ACS standards also drives her to participate in morbidity and mortality conferences, where she shares case analyses and lessons learned to foster a culture of transparency and continuous improvement.

During her tenure as Chief Resident at Saint Louis University (2024‑2025), Dr. Roider spearheaded a department‑wide initiative to implement a comprehensive patient safety dashboard. This digital platform aggregates real‑time data on operative times, blood loss, complication rates, and patient satisfaction scores, allowing the surgical team to identify trends, intervene early, and refine protocols on an ongoing basis. Under her leadership, the residency program achieved a 30% reduction in postoperative complications and a significant increase in patient‑reported outcome measures. The success of this initiative not only underscored her capacity for leadership but also cemented her reputation as a surgeon who places the highest priority on the wellbeing of those she serves.
