Surgical Expertise

When it comes to breast augmentation, Dr. Christman has cultivated a reputation for excellence that blends aesthetic artistry with meticulous surgical technique. His approach begins with an exhaustive assessment of breast anatomy, skin quality, and the patient’s desired silhouette, followed by a collaborative discussion of implant type, size, shape, and placement. Leveraging his deep understanding of the biomechanical properties of silicone and saline implants, Dr. Christman customizes each procedure to achieve harmonious proportion, natural movement, and long‑term durability. He employs refined incision strategies—whether inframammary, periareolar, or transaxillary—to minimize scarring while optimizing implant positioning, thereby reducing the risk of capsular contracture and ensuring a seamless integration with the surrounding tissue. Post‑operative care under his supervision includes a personalized protocol of compression garments, physiotherapy, and regular follow‑up visits, fostering optimal healing and sustained aesthetic satisfaction.

Liposuction, a cornerstone of modern body contouring, showcases Dr. Christman’s commitment to precision and patient safety. He utilizes state‑of‑the‑art technologies such as power‑assist liposuction (PAL), ultrasound‑assisted liposuction (UAL), and laser‑assisted lipolysis (LAL) to target stubborn adipose deposits while preserving vital structures and minimizing postoperative bruising. Each session is meticulously planned using three‑dimensional imaging to map target zones and predict volumetric changes, allowing patients to visualize their future contours before the first incision. Dr. Christman’s technique emphasizes the preservation of the underlying fibrous network, which promotes smoother, more natural results and reduces the likelihood of irregularities. By integrating strategic fat grafting, he can simultaneously enhance secondary areas—such as the gluteal region or facial hollows—providing a comprehensive aesthetic upgrade that aligns with the patient’s holistic goals.

The abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck, represents Dr. Christman’s most ambitious endeavor in sculpting the midsection. His methodical approach begins with a thorough evaluation of abdominal wall laxity, diastasis recti, excess skin, and localized fat pockets. He then devises a customized surgical plan that may incorporate a full or partial tummy tuck, liposuction, and, when indicated, a fleur‑de‑lis incision to address vertical excess. Dr. Christman’s meticulous dissection technique preserves critical perforating vessels, ensuring robust blood supply to the re‑approximated tissue and reducing the risk of necrosis. He employs progressive tension sutures to minimize seroma formation and utilizes a multilayered closure to achieve a flat, toned abdomen with a concealed scar that typically resides within the natural skin crease. Post‑operative protocols encompass a structured regimen of compression, activity modification, and scar management, all designed to expedite recovery while safeguarding the longevity of the result.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Dr. Christman’s unwavering dedication to patient safety is reflected in his active participation with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the premier organization that sets the gold standard for ethical practice, education, and research in the field. As a certified member of ASPS, Dr. Christman adheres to the society’s rigorous guidelines for operative conduct, infection control, and postoperative monitoring. He regularly attends ASPS conferences, contributing to panels that discuss emerging safety protocols, risk mitigation strategies, and the integration of novel technologies such as intra‑operative fluorescence imaging for vascular assessment. His involvement extends to the ASPS Committee on Patient Safety, where he collaborates with peers to develop consensus statements that influence national policy and shape the future of safe surgical practice across the United States.

In recognition of his exemplary commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality care, Dr. Christman was honored with the prestigious Patient Choice Award, an accolade bestowed upon physicians who consistently achieve outstanding patient satisfaction while maintaining the highest safety standards. This award is based on rigorous metrics that evaluate surgical outcomes, complication rates, and patient-reported experiences, underscoring Dr. Christman’s ability to blend technical excellence with compassionate communication. The award also highlights his transparent approach to informed consent, where he meticulously outlines potential risks, benefits, and alternatives, empowering patients to make decisions with confidence. By fostering an environment of openness and accountability, Dr. Christman has cultivated a culture in which patient safety is not a peripheral concern but the cornerstone of every procedural decision.

Beyond institutional affiliations, Dr. Christman has instituted a comprehensive, practice‑wide safety framework that incorporates pre‑operative optimization, intra‑operative vigilance, and post‑operative surveillance. Prior to any procedure, he conducts an exhaustive medical review, including cardiac and pulmonary assessments, to identify and mitigate comorbidities that could elevate surgical risk. In the operating suite, he employs advanced anesthesia monitoring, real‑time blood loss tracking, and standardized surgical checklists that align with the World Health Organization’s Safe Surgery Saves Lives initiative. Post‑operative protocols feature a dedicated patient liaison team that monitors recovery through daily telehealth check‑ins, rapid response to emergent complications, and coordinated care with local primary physicians. This systematic approach ensures that every patient receives a continuum of care that prioritizes safety at every stage of the surgical journey.
