Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Jessica Glenn’s journey into the realm of plastic and reconstructive surgery began with an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, culminating in a Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. At Feinberg, she distinguished herself not only through stellar grades but also by engaging in groundbreaking research on tissue regeneration and wound healing, publishing multiple peer‑reviewed articles that explored the molecular pathways of scar formation. Her time at Northwestern was marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge, as she sought out mentorship from renowned surgeons and participated in clinical rotations that exposed her to a wide spectrum of surgical disciplines. This immersive educational environment laid a formidable foundation, instilling in Dr. Glenn a disciplined work ethic and a deep appreciation for the integration of basic science with clinical practice.

Following medical school, Dr. Glenn embarked on a rigorous General Surgery Residency, an intensive one‑year program designed to hone fundamental surgical skills and foster decisive, high‑pressure decision‑making. During this period, she mastered the core principles of abdominal, thoracic, and vascular surgery, gaining proficiency in operative techniques ranging from laparoscopic cholecystectomy to emergent trauma management. The residency’s demanding schedule, which included night‑time call rotations and a diverse case load, sharpened her technical dexterity and reinforced the importance of meticulous pre‑operative planning, intra‑operative vigilance, and post‑operative monitoring. Dr. Glenn’s exemplary performance during this formative year earned her commendations for both clinical acumen and compassionate patient care, setting the stage for her subsequent specialization.

Choosing to further specialize, Dr. Glenn pursued a five‑year Urology Residency, a decision motivated by her fascination with the intricate anatomy of the genitourinary system and its profound impact on patient quality of life. Throughout this extended training, she performed an extensive array of procedures—including radical prostatectomies, reconstructive urethral surgeries, and minimally invasive robotic interventions—each demanding precise anatomical knowledge and refined microsurgical skill. Her urology training also emphasized the importance of functional outcomes, leading her to develop a nuanced understanding of how form and function intertwine, a perspective that would later become a hallmark of her plastic surgery practice. Dr. Glenn’s residency culminated in a fellowship‑level competence in both open and endoscopic techniques, and she emerged as a board‑eligible urologist equipped with a rare combination of broad surgical expertise and a patient‑focused mindset.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Jessica Glenn’s surgical expertise is a seamless synthesis of her extensive training in general surgery, urology, and her subsequent mastery of plastic and cosmetic surgery. In the realm of plastic surgery, she excels in both reconstructive and aesthetic procedures, applying her deep knowledge of tissue planes, vascular anatomy, and wound healing to achieve outcomes that are both functionally sound and aesthetically pleasing. Her reconstructive work includes complex facial trauma repairs, breast reconstruction following mastectomy, and intricate flap reconstructions for chronic wound management. Each case is approached with a meticulous surgical plan that incorporates pre‑operative imaging, intra‑operative navigation, and post‑operative rehabilitation, ensuring that the reconstructed tissue not only restores form but also regains optimal function.

Within cosmetic surgery, Dr. Glenn’s portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of patient‑desired enhancements, ranging from minimally invasive interventions such as injectable dermal fillers and laser resurfacing to more extensive procedures like rhinoplasty, abdominoplasty, and body contouring via liposuction and tummy‑tuck techniques. Her aesthetic philosophy is grounded in the principle of “natural harmony,” wherein each surgical modification is tailored to complement the patient’s existing features, skin quality, and body proportions. Dr. Glenn employs advanced technologies, including three‑dimensional imaging and computer‑assisted design, to pre‑visualize outcomes and to facilitate precise intra‑operative execution. This meticulous attention to detail has earned her a reputation for delivering subtle, enduring results that enhance confidence without compromising the patient’s innate identity.

Dr. Glenn’s background in urology adds a distinctive dimension to her surgical repertoire, particularly in the field of genital and pelvic reconstructive surgery. She performs delicate procedures such as urethral reconstruction, penile prosthesis implantation, and gender‑affirming surgeries, each requiring an exacting level of microsurgical skill and an empathetic understanding of the profound psychosocial implications for her patients. Her urological expertise also informs her approach to aesthetic genital procedures, such as labiaplasty and scrotal rejuvenation, where she balances functional preservation with aesthetic refinement. The confluence of her urological and plastic surgical training empowers Dr. Glenn to address complex cases that span both specialties, offering comprehensive solutions that few surgeons can provide.
