Dr. Jay B. Fine - Plastic Surgeon in Pembroke Pines, FL

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Jay B. Fine earned his medical degree from the State University of New York, where he distinguished himself as a scholar with a keen interest in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. During his time at SUNY, he excelled in the rigorous pre‑clinical curriculum, earning honors in anatomy, physiology, and histology—foundational subjects that would later inform his meticulous attention to tissue handling and surgical precision. His academic journey was punctuated by research contributions to peer‑reviewed journals, focusing on wound healing dynamics and the biochemical pathways of scar formation. These investigations not only broadened his scientific acumen but also ignited a lifelong curiosity about the mechanisms that govern tissue regeneration and aesthetic outcomes.

Following medical school, Dr. Fine pursued a residency in general surgery, where he refined his operative skills across a spectrum of high‑stakes procedures, from emergent trauma repairs to complex abdominal reconstructions. The residency program emphasized multidisciplinary collaboration, exposing him to the intricacies of vascular, orthopedic, and oncologic surgery. This breadth of experience cultivated a robust surgical foundation, enabling him to approach plastic surgery with a comprehensive understanding of systemic physiology and the interdependence of organ systems. In addition to his clinical duties, he served as a chief resident, overseeing a team of interns and junior residents, and honing his leadership abilities in the operating room.

Recognizing his passion for aesthetic refinement, Dr. Fine subsequently completed a dedicated fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at a nationally accredited institution. The fellowship offered intensive exposure to facial rejuvenation, breast reconstruction, body contouring, and microsurgical techniques. Under the mentorship of renowned pioneers in the field, he mastered the art of delicate flap creation, nerve preservation, and scar minimization. His fellowship research culminated in a landmark presentation on the use of adipose‑derived stem cells to improve postoperative tissue elasticity—a study that earned him a prestigious award and solidified his reputation as an innovative thinker. The combination of rigorous academic training, diverse surgical exposure, and cutting‑edge research equipped Dr. Fine with the expertise required to deliver transformative results with unparalleled safety.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Fine’s surgical repertoire encompasses the full spectrum of plastic surgery, with a particular emphasis on facial aesthetics, body contouring, and reconstructive solutions. In facial surgery, he is celebrated for his nuanced approach to rhinoplasty, where he balances structural integrity with aesthetic refinement to achieve natural, harmonious results. His technique incorporates precision osteotomies, meticulous cartilage reshaping, and the strategic use of autologous grafts, allowing him to address both functional airway concerns and cosmetic aspirations in a single operative session. Patients consistently commend his ability to preserve the unique character of their facial features while delivering subtle enhancements that amplify confidence.

Beyond rhinoplasty, Dr. Fine excels in facelifts, blepharoplasty, and facial fat grafting, employing minimally invasive methods that reduce downtime and maximize patient comfort. He utilizes advanced energy‑based devices for tissue tightening, coupled with ultra‑refined suture patterns that minimize tension and promote optimal scar orientation. In breast surgery, his expertise spans augmentation, mastopexy, and comprehensive breast reconstruction post‑mastectomy. He leverages state‑of‑the‑art implant technologies and autologous tissue flaps—such as the deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap—to restore breast volume while preserving donor site aesthetics. His reconstructive work is distinguished by a commitment to restoring both form and function, often collaborating with oncologists and radiation specialists to ensure seamless integration of oncologic and aesthetic care.

Dr. Fine’s body contouring procedures, including abdominoplasty, liposuction, and thigh lifts, are performed with an emphasis on preserving vascular supply and minimizing postoperative complications. He employs progressive tension sutures, strategic fat redistribution, and meticulous hemostasis to achieve smooth, durable contours. In addition to his operative mastery, Dr. Fine remains at the forefront of emerging technologies, integrating laser resurfacing, radiofrequency skin tightening, and regenerative medicine adjuncts into his practice. This blend of traditional craftsmanship and innovative technique enables him to address a wide array of patient concerns, delivering outcomes that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally resilient.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Fine’s practice, a principle reinforced by his active involvement with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). As a fellow of ASPS, he adheres to the organization’s rigorous standards for ethical conduct, continuous education, and evidence‑based practice. Dr. Fine regularly participates in ASPS‑sponsored workshops, symposiums, and peer‑review panels, where he contributes to the development of safety protocols and best‑practice guidelines that shape the future of plastic surgery. His commitment to staying abreast of the latest safety data ensures that every patient benefits from the most current, scientifically validated techniques.

In 2020, Dr. Fine was honored with the Physician of the Year award, a testament to his unwavering dedication to excellence in patient care and safety. The accolade recognized his implementation of a comprehensive perioperative safety checklist, his meticulous preoperative risk stratification, and his proactive management of postoperative complications. By integrating multimodal analgesia, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways, and real‑time monitoring technologies, he has significantly reduced the incidence of adverse events, shortened hospital stays, and accelerated return to normal activity for his patients. These initiatives reflect his belief that optimal aesthetic outcomes are inseparable from a foundation of uncompromising safety.

Beyond institutional recognition, Dr. Fine has pioneered a patient education program that demystifies the surgical process, empowering individuals to make informed choices about anesthesia, incision planning, and postoperative care. He employs detailed consent forms, interactive digital modules, and personalized counseling sessions to ensure that patients fully understand the risk‑benefit profile of each procedure. This transparent communication strategy not only fosters trust but also enhances compliance with postoperative instructions, thereby reducing complications such as infection, seroma formation, and suboptimal scar healing. Dr. Fine’s holistic safety framework—anchored in education, technology, and continuous quality improvement—sets a benchmark for the industry and underscores his reputation as a surgeon who places patient well‑being above all else.
