Her immersion in a vibrant academic community provided her with a solid foundation in anatomy, physiology, and surgical pathology, fostering a disciplined analytical mindset that would later become a hallmark of her surgical practice.

Following medical school, Dr. Silkey pursued a comprehensive residency in General Surgery, where she refined her operative skills across a spectrum of procedures ranging from abdominal trauma to complex oncologic resections. Her residency experience was marked by a relentless pursuit of technical excellence, as evidenced by her selection for the institution’s elite “Surgical Skills Development” program—a competitive cohort that emphasized microsurgical techniques, advanced wound management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This period not only honed her dexterity in the operating theater but also instilled an appreciation for the systemic considerations that accompany any surgical intervention.

Recognizing her innate talent for aesthetic reconstruction, Dr. Silkey subsequently completed a dedicated fellowship in Plastic Surgery, during which she mastered both reconstructive and cosmetic disciplines. Her fellowship training included rotations at world‑class centers for craniofacial reconstruction, breast reconstruction, and aesthetic body contouring, allowing her to develop a versatile skill set that bridges the gap between functional restoration and artistic enhancement. Throughout this period, she authored multiple peer‑reviewed publications on topics such as autologous fat transfer and postoperative scar modulation, contributing to the broader scientific community and cementing her reputation as a thought leader in plastic surgery.

Beyond formal education, Dr. Silkey has remained committed to lifelong learning, regularly attending international conferences, participating in hands‑on workshops, and completing advanced certifications in emerging technologies such as 3‑D printed surgical guides and laser‑assisted skin resurfacing. Her dedication to continuous professional development ensures that each patient in Kaysville benefits from the latest evidence‑based practices, while her foundational training at the University of Texas Health Science Center remains the bedrock of her clinical decision‑making.

Her approach to facial rejuvenation integrates volumizing strategies—such as autologous fat grafting and dermal fillers—with precise tissue tightening, achieving harmonious balance that restores youthful vitality without compromising facial expression.

Her expertise in breast surgery spans both reconstructive and cosmetic domains. For patients undergoing mastectomy, Dr. Silkey offers state‑of‑the‑art autologous reconstruction options, including DIEP flap and TRAM flap procedures, which preserve abdominal muscle integrity while providing durable, aesthetically pleasing breast contours. Her nuanced understanding of breast anatomy enables her to achieve symmetry, optimal projection, and a natural feel that many patients describe as life‑changing.

Beyond the torso, Dr. Silkey is a leader in body contouring, offering advanced liposuction techniques, abdominoplasty, and thigh lifts that combine sculptural artistry with functional improvement. She utilizes a combination of tumescent infiltration, ultrasound‑assisted liposuction, and progressive tension suturing to minimize postoperative complications and enhance skin retraction. Her comprehensive approach often includes adjunctive procedures—such as buttock augmentation or arm lifts—allowing patients to achieve a cohesive, proportionate silhouette that aligns with their personal vision of beauty.

While her aesthetic portfolio is extensive, Dr. Silkey’s grounding in general surgery equips her to manage complex reconstructive challenges, including traumatic wound repair, scar revision, and congenital deformity correction. Her ability to navigate the intricate interplay between vascular supply, tissue viability, and functional restoration has earned her referrals from orthopedic and oncologic surgeons seeking collaborative expertise. This dual competence in both plastic and general surgery ensures that every patient receives comprehensive care that addresses both aesthetic desire and medical necessity, a synergy that distinguishes her practice in the region.

This honor recognized her unwavering focus on patient-centered care, her leadership in developing comprehensive pre‑operative screening processes, and her innovative use of intra‑operative monitoring technologies that reduce the incidence of peri‑operative complications. The award highlighted her ability to balance high‑volume practice with individualized attention, ensuring that each patient’s journey is marked by safety, comfort, and confidence.

In addition to formal recognitions, Dr. Silkey has instituted a suite of practical safety measures that permeate every facet of her practice. Pre‑operative protocols include detailed medical history reviews, multidisciplinary consultations for high‑risk patients, and the utilization of advanced imaging modalities such as 3‑D CT scanning to map vascular anatomy prior to complex reconstructions. Intra‑operatively, she employs standardized time‑out procedures, surgical checklists, and real‑time telemetry to monitor vital signs, thereby minimizing the risk of adverse events. Post‑operative care is equally rigorous, featuring structured discharge instructions, telemedicine follow‑up visits, and a dedicated nurse‑navigator team that monitors wound healing and promptly addresses any complications.

Dr. Silkey’s safety culture extends beyond her own practice to the broader medical community in Utah. She regularly mentors resident physicians, conducts safety workshops for local surgeons, and collaborates with hospital risk management committees to develop institution‑wide policies that promote patient welfare.
