Dr. Ernest Robinson - Plastic Surgeon in Aliso Viejo, CA

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Ernest Robinson earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he distinguished himself as a scholar with a profound interest in head and neck anatomy. At UC Irvine, he excelled in rigorous coursework, engaging in research projects that explored the molecular basis of wound healing and scar formation—subjects that would later inform his approach to aesthetic reconstruction. His academic record was complemented by clinical rotations that emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary care, allowing him to observe the symbiotic relationships between otolaryngology, maxillofacial surgery, and dermatology. These formative experiences cemented his resolve to pursue a career where surgical precision and artistic vision intersect.

Following medical school, Dr. Robinson completed a demanding residency in Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Southern California. This residency, renowned for its comprehensive exposure to complex airway management, oncologic resections, and reconstructive procedures, honed his technical dexterity and deepened his understanding of the intricate vascular and neural networks of the face and neck. During his time at USC, he frequently assisted senior surgeons in microvascular free‑flap reconstructions, mastering the delicate balance of preserving function while restoring aesthetic form. His commitment to excellence was recognized through multiple resident awards for surgical skill, research presentation, and community outreach, underscoring his dedication to both patient care and academic contribution.

The final chapter of his formal training unfolded at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he pursued a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. At UCLA, Dr. Robinson refined his expertise in a spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, ranging from subtle facial refinements to complex trauma repairs. He immersed himself in the latest advancements in facial anatomy imaging, three‑dimensional surgical planning, and the use of autologous tissue grafts to achieve optimal aesthetic outcomes. The fellowship also provided him with a platform to publish peer‑reviewed articles on novel facelift techniques and to present his findings at national conferences, establishing him as a thought leader early in his career. This intensive, hands‑on experience equipped Dr. Robinson with the confidence and skill set required to deliver world‑class facial plastic surgery in a private practice setting.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Robinson’s surgical repertoire is anchored by a mastery of facial plastic surgery, a discipline that demands both meticulous technique and an artistic eye. His practice encompasses a full suite of aesthetic procedures, each performed with an unwavering commitment to preserving the patient’s natural identity. In facelifts, he employs a hybrid approach that blends traditional SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) manipulation with modern, minimally invasive technologies such as radiofrequency‑assisted tissue tightening. This combination allows him to achieve a rejuvenated contour while minimizing postoperative downtime and scarring. By customizing incision patterns and tension vectors to each patient’s unique facial topology, Dr. Robinson ensures that results appear harmonious, subtle, and timeless.

Rhinoplasty, perhaps one of the most technically demanding facial surgeries, showcases Dr. Robinson’s nuanced understanding of nasal architecture and functional dynamics. He integrates open and closed rhinoplasty techniques, leveraging precise cartilage grafting and refined tip sculpting to address both aesthetic concerns and airway patency. His pre‑operative planning incorporates three‑dimensional imaging and computer‑assisted simulations, granting patients a realistic preview of postoperative outcomes. Moreover, he emphasizes preservation rhinoplasty principles, conserving native structures wherever possible to reduce the risk of postoperative deformities and ensure a natural look that reflects the patient’s ethnic heritage and personal style.

Beyond cosmetic enhancements, Dr. Robinson is a seasoned reconstructive surgeon, adept at managing complex facial trauma, congenital anomalies, and oncologic defects. His expertise in blepharoplasty—both upper and lower eyelid surgery—enables him to correct age‑related skin laxity, fat prolapse, and tear trough deformities, often restoring a youthful appearance with minimal disruption to ocular function. He also performs a broad spectrum of facial aesthetic procedures, including brow lifts, chin augmentations, and facial fat grafting, each executed with an eye for symmetry and proportion. By staying at the forefront of evolving techniques such as injectable fillers, thread lifts, and laser resurfacing, Dr. Robinson offers a comprehensive, patient‑tailored approach that blends surgical and non‑surgical modalities to achieve optimal, long‑lasting results.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Robinson’s practice, underpinned by active participation in leading professional societies that set the highest standards for surgical care. As a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), he adheres to rigorous ethical guidelines and engages in continuous education programs that emphasize evidence‑based practices and emerging safety protocols. His affiliation with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) further reinforces his commitment to maintaining a culture of transparency, peer review, and patient advocacy, ensuring that every procedure is performed within a framework of best‑practice standards.

Dr. Robinson’s dedication to safety extends to his involvement with the American Academy of Otolaryngology‑Head and Neck Surgery (AAO‑HNS), where he stays abreast of advancements in airway management, infection control, and perioperative care. His active participation in the Orange County Medical Association provides a local platform for collaboration with fellow physicians, fostering a community of shared responsibility for patient outcomes. Recognitions such as “Top Doctor” by Orange County Magazine (2022), “Best Facial Plastic Surgeon” by OC Business Journal (2021), and “Physician of the Year” by the Orange County Medical Society (2020) are testaments to his unwavering commitment to excellence, safety, and patient satisfaction.
