This patient‑centered ethos drives every aspect of his practice in Waldorf, Maryland, where he approaches each case as a partnership rather than a transaction. By integrating the principles of aesthetic harmony with a deep respect for the body’s natural healing processes, Dr. Fontana seeks outcomes that are both functionally robust and visually authentic, allowing patients to feel confident in their bodies while preserving the integrity of their health.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Fontana emphasizes education as a core component of his practice. He spends considerable time with each patient, demystifying complex procedures, outlining realistic expectations, and discussing long‑term maintenance strategies. This transparent communication builds trust, reduces anxiety, and empowers patients to make informed decisions about their care. He believes that informed consent is not a single signature but an ongoing dialogue, and he routinely follows up with patients long after their recovery, offering guidance on lifestyle, skincare, and preventive measures that sustain the results of his work.

The University of Maryland’s commitment to fostering leaders in medicine resonated deeply with Dr. Fontana, inspiring him to pursue a career that would merge surgical precision with compassionate patient interaction.
Following medical school, Dr. Fontana completed a General Surgery Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, one of the nation’s most prestigious surgical training programs. At Johns Hopkins, he rotated through high‑volume trauma centers, complex abdominal surgeries, and specialty services, gaining a breadth of experience that sharpened his technical acumen and decision‑making under pressure. The residency’s demanding schedule, coupled with a culture of academic excellence, cultivated his ability to manage intricate operative scenarios, lead multidisciplinary teams, and uphold the highest standards of patient safety. To refine his focus on aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, Dr. Fontana pursued a Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Maryland. This fellowship offered a comprehensive exposure to both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, allowing him to master microsurgical techniques, facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and breast reconstruction. He contributed to pioneering studies on autologous fat grafting and participated in cadaveric workshops that honed his skill in delicate tissue handling.
