Dr. Craig Schaper’s philosophy is rooted in the conviction that aesthetic medicine is both an art and a science—a delicate balance that requires a compassionate understanding of each patient’s unique narrative, combined with the rigor of evidence‑based practice. From his earliest days in medical school, he recognized that the desire for cosmetic enhancement often stems from deeper psychosocial motivations, and he has devoted his career to addressing those motivations with empathy, integrity, and technical precision. In his private practice, Dr. Schaper emphasizes a collaborative dialogue, inviting patients to articulate their aesthetic goals while he provides realistic expectations grounded in anatomy, tissue dynamics, and the natural aging process. This partnership model not only cultivates trust but also empowers patients to become active participants in their own transformation, fostering outcomes that feel authentic rather than contrived.
Beyond the individual consultation room, Dr. Schaper’s approach extends to a broader commitment to continual learning and mentorship. He regularly attends international symposiums, contributes to peer‑reviewed journals, and participates in workshops that explore emerging technologies such as advanced volumizing agents and laser‑assisted resurfacing techniques. By staying at the forefront of innovation, he ensures that his practice does not merely follow trends but sets standards for safety, efficacy, and aesthetic harmony. Moreover, Dr. Schaper mentors the next generation of physicians, instilling in them the same patient‑first ethos that has defined his own career, thereby multiplying the impact of his philosophy across the field of aesthetic medicine.

Rigorous Medical Education and Training
Dr. Craig Schaper earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas School of Medicine, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on patient‑centered care. During his medical school tenure, he distinguished himself academically, graduating with honors and receiving multiple accolades for his research on cutaneous healing mechanisms. His early exposure to dermatologic pathology sparked a fascination with the skin’s complex interplay of structure and function, a curiosity that would later define his clinical focus. He completed a series of clinical rotations that spanned internal medicine, surgery, and obstetrics, each reinforcing the importance of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary perspective in delivering optimal patient outcomes.
Following medical school, Dr. Schaper pursued a residency in Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, a premier training ground that blends cutting‑edge research with high‑volume clinical practice. Over the course of his three‑year residency, he honed his diagnostic acumen, mastering the evaluation and management of a wide spectrum of dermatologic conditions—from inflammatory dermatoses to malignant neoplasms. He also cultivated a deep proficiency in procedural dermatology, performing countless biopsies, excisions, and laser treatments under the mentorship of leading experts. This intensive training equipped him with the technical dexterity and scientific rigor essential for safe, effective aesthetic interventions.
In addition to his formal residency, Dr. Schaper sought out fellowships and advanced courses that refined his expertise in aesthetic medicine. He completed a specialized fellowship in Cosmetic Dermatology, where he focused on the nuanced art of facial rejuvenation, learning to balance volumetric restoration with the preservation of natural lines and expressions. He also engaged in international workshops that explored the latest developments in injectable technologies, such as hyaluronic acid fillers with varying rheologic properties and neurotoxin formulations with extended duration. These supplemental experiences not only broadened his skill set but also cultivated a global perspective on aesthetic standards, enabling him to adapt his practice to the diverse cultural expectations of his patients.
Surgical Expertise
Dr. Craig Schaper’s surgical repertoire encompasses a comprehensive suite of aesthetic medicine procedures, each performed with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to achieving harmonious, patient‑specific results. His mastery of dermal fillers allows him to address volume loss, contour irregularities, and structural deficiencies with precision. He selects filler products based on their molecular weight, cross‑linking density, and intended anatomical placement, ensuring that each injection integrates seamlessly with the patient’s native tissue. Whether restoring cheek projection, enhancing the nasolabial folds, or sculpting the jawline, Dr. Schaper applies a layered technique that respects the natural planes of the face, thereby minimizing the risk of nodularity or over‑correction.
In the realm of neuromodulators, Dr. Schaper is renowned for his refined Botox injection protocols, which target dynamic wrinkles while preserving expressive movement. He leverages a thorough understanding of facial musculature to map out injection sites that achieve a subtle, refreshed appearance without compromising the patient’s ability to convey emotion. His nuanced dosing strategy—adjusted for muscle strength, skin thickness, and individual metabolic factors—has resulted in consistently high satisfaction rates and a low incidence of adverse effects. Dr. Schaper also stays abreast of emerging neurotoxin formulations, integrating newer agents into his practice when they offer distinct advantages in onset time or duration of effect.
Beyond injectable therapies, Dr. Schaper excels in non‑surgical cosmetic procedures that complement and enhance his injectable work. He is proficient in laser skin resurfacing, employing fractional CO₂ and erbium lasers to improve texture, pigmentation, and scar appearance. His expertise extends to radiofrequency microneedling and intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments, which he utilizes to stimulate collagen remodeling and address vascular lesions. By combining these modalities with strategic filler and toxin placements, Dr. Schaper creates comprehensive facial rejuvenation plans that address both surface and deep structural concerns, delivering results that are both immediate and progressive as natural collagen synthesis continues over time.

As a member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), he adheres to rigorous standards of clinical excellence, participating in continuing medical education programs that focus on emerging safety protocols and evidence‑based guidelines. His affiliation with the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) further underscores his dedication to maintaining the highest level of procedural safety, as he regularly contributes to consensus statements on injectable technique, infection control, and patient selection criteria. Through his engagement with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), Dr. Schaper collaborates with a global network of experts to benchmark safety metrics and share best practices across borders.
