Dr. Clifford Ball - Plastic Surgeon in Surprise, AZ

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Clifford Ball earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on both clinical excellence and research acumen. During his time at the university, he distinguished himself as a scholar with a particular affinity for anatomy, physiology, and the emerging field of cosmetic medicine. He participated in numerous research projects that explored wound healing dynamics and the molecular basis of scar formation, earning several accolades and contributing to peer‑reviewed publications that have informed subsequent clinical practice. His academic performance placed him among the top percentile of his class, granting him the opportunity to pursue specialized training that would lay the foundation for his future as a leading plastic surgeon.

Following graduation, Dr. Ball completed a demanding Family Medicine Residency at Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital, where he refined his diagnostic skills, honed his bedside manner, and mastered the management of a broad spectrum of medical conditions. The residency program’s comprehensive curriculum emphasized primary care, preventative health, and procedural competence, providing Dr. Ball with a robust understanding of patient health that extends far beyond the operating theater. He excelled in the residency’s procedural rotations, gaining proficiency in minor surgical techniques, wound care, and emergency interventions—experiences that would later prove invaluable in his plastic surgery practice, where nuanced tissue handling and rapid decision‑making are paramount.

During his residency, Dr. Ball also pursued additional training in Emergency Medicine, a discipline that demands quick thinking, adaptability, and a deep appreciation for patient safety under pressure. He rotated through the emergency department of Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital, where he responded to high‑acuity cases ranging from traumatic injuries to acute medical emergencies. This exposure reinforced his commitment to meticulous procedural preparation, sterile technique, and the judicious use of analgesia and anesthesia—principles that now permeate his aesthetic surgery protocols. The combination of family medicine’s holistic perspective and emergency medicine’s rapid response framework equipped Dr. Ball with a uniquely versatile skill set, allowing him to navigate complex surgical scenarios with confidence and poise.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Ball’s surgical expertise is a synthesis of his foundational training in family medicine, his intensive exposure to emergency medicine, and his dedicated focus on aesthetic surgery. In the realm of family medicine, he cultivated an intimate understanding of the human body’s functional anatomy, which informs his precise approach to tissue manipulation and reconstruction. His experience with a wide array of minor surgical procedures—ranging from incision and drainage to excisional biopsies—instilled a disciplined respect for incision planning, hemostasis, and postoperative wound management. These competencies translate seamlessly into his aesthetic practice, where the subtle art of contouring demands a surgeon who can balance aggressive correction with preservation of natural tissue planes.

Emergency medicine further sharpened Dr. Ball’s ability to operate under duress, a skill that is remarkably valuable in complex reconstructive cases and high‑stakes cosmetic procedures. The fast‑paced environment of the emergency department taught him to assess patient stability, prioritize interventions, and execute life‑saving measures with precision. This background enables him to anticipate and mitigate intraoperative complications, ensuring that each operation proceeds with optimal safety margins. Moreover, his familiarity with rapid triage and multidisciplinary collaboration enhances his capacity to coordinate care among anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and ancillary specialists, fostering a cohesive team dynamic that underpins successful surgical outcomes.

Within the specific domain of plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Ball has mastered a broad spectrum of procedures that address both aesthetic enhancement and functional restoration. His repertoire includes facial rejuvenation techniques such as rhytidectomy, blepharoplasty, and minimally invasive thread lifts, as well as body contouring procedures like abdominoplasty, liposuction, and thigh lifts. He is also adept at breast surgery, offering augmentation, reduction, and reconstructive options with a focus on achieving symmetry, natural projection, and patient satisfaction. Each procedure is approached with a meticulous preoperative analysis, employing three‑dimensional imaging and computer‑assisted design to tailor the surgical plan to the patient’s unique anatomy and aesthetic goals. Dr. Ball’s commitment to continual refinement ensures that his techniques remain at the forefront of the specialty, incorporating advances such as fat grafting, regenerative medicine, and laser‑assisted scar revision to enhance both functional and cosmetic results.

His engagement with ACEP’s emergency medicine forums further reinforces his proficiency in rapid response protocols, ensuring that any emergent complications are addressed with the utmost urgency and expertise.

Recognition by the Arizona Medical Board and prestigious accolades such as Physician of the Year – Dignity Health (2022) and Top Doctor – Phoenix Magazine (2021) serve as external validations of Dr. Ball’s unwavering commitment to excellence. These honors are awarded only to physicians who demonstrate exemplary clinical performance, ethical conduct, and a sustained record of superior patient outcomes. Beyond accolades, Dr. Ball embeds safety into the very fabric of his practice through rigorous protocols and transparent communication. He employs a multi‑layered consent process that ensures patients are fully apprised of potential risks, benefits, and alternatives, fostering an environment of informed autonomy. In the operating suite, he utilizes state‑of‑the‑art monitoring equipment, adheres to strict aseptic techniques, and follows evidence‑based antibiotic stewardship guidelines to minimize infection risk.
