Dr. Brian S. Glatt - Plastic Surgeon in Morristown, NJ

Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Brian S. Glatt earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the prestigious Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he graduated with honors and distinguished himself in the rigorous curriculum that blends foundational biomedical sciences with clinical acumen. During his time at Columbia, Dr. Glatt pursued a research fellowship in craniofacial development, contributing to peer‑reviewed publications that explored the molecular pathways governing tissue regeneration. This early immersion in translational research ignited a lifelong fascination with the interplay between genetics, wound healing, and aesthetic outcomes, laying a scientific groundwork that informs every facet of his surgical practice.

Following medical school, Dr. Glatt completed a demanding General Surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, an institution renowned for its high volume of complex abdominal and thoracic procedures. His residency experience honed his dexterity in meticulous dissection, hemostasis, and postoperative care, while also instilling a disciplined approach to patient safety protocols. He was repeatedly selected for the residency’s “Resident of the Year” award, a testament to his unwavering work ethic, collaborative spirit, and ability to thrive under the pressures of a demanding surgical environment.

To specialize further, Dr. Glatt pursued a dedicated Plastic Surgery fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, one of the nation’s premier centers for reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Under the mentorship of world‑renowned pioneers in microsurgery and facial rejuvenation, he mastered advanced techniques such as deep plane facelift, autologous fat grafting, and complex breast reconstruction following mastectomy. His fellowship culminated in a scholarly thesis on optimizing peri‑operative protocols for reduced seroma formation after abdominoplasty, which earned him the “Outstanding Research Award” from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. This exhaustive training, spanning basic science, general surgery, and subspecialty mastery, equips Dr. Glatt with a comprehensive skill set that bridges the gap between rigorous academic inquiry and compassionate clinical care.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Glatt’s reputation as a leading authority in breast augmentation is built upon a nuanced understanding of both aesthetic proportion and biomechanical stability. He meticulously evaluates each patient’s thoracic anatomy, breast tissue characteristics, and lifestyle demands to select the optimal implant type, shape, and placement—whether subglandular, submuscular, or a dual‑plane approach. By employing a combination of pre‑operative three‑dimensional imaging and intra‑operative laser‑guided measurements, he ensures that the final contour harmonizes with the patient’s natural silhouette while minimizing the risk of capsular contracture and implant malposition. His commitment to evidence‑based practice is reflected in his adoption of the latest silicone gel technologies, as well as his rigorous postoperative monitoring program, which includes scheduled ultrasonographic assessments to detect early signs of complication.

In the realm of body contouring, Dr. Glatt has refined liposuction techniques that prioritize fat viability, vascular preservation, and smooth skin retraction. He utilizes power‑assist devices equipped with ultrasonic and radiofrequency energy to emulsify adipose tissue while safeguarding surrounding nerves and blood vessels. This meticulous approach reduces postoperative bruising, accelerates recovery, and yields a more natural, sculpted appearance. Dr. Glatt’s expertise extends to high‑definition liposuction, a method that accentuates muscular definition in the abdomen, flanks, and back, catering to patients who seek a sculpted athletic profile. His comprehensive treatment plans often integrate complementary procedures such as skin tightening with laser or radiofrequency devices, ensuring a cohesive and harmonious transformation.

When addressing abdominal laxity and excess skin, Dr. Glatt’s proficiency in abdominoplasty—commonly known as a “tummy tuck”—is unparalleled. He employs a multilayered closure technique that meticulously reapproximates the rectus abdominis muscles, restores the linea alba, and repositions the umbilicus with precision to achieve a natural scar line. By integrating progressive tension sutures and tissue‑preserving strategies, he minimizes seroma formation and promotes optimal wound healing. Dr. Glatt also offers advanced variations, such as the fleur‑de‑lis and extended “mega‑tummy tuck,” which address lateral and vertical excess skin in patients with significant weight loss. His surgical philosophy emphasizes a balanced aesthetic outcome that respects the patient’s natural waistline, ensuring that the final result is both functional and visually appealing.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the cornerstone of Dr. Glatt’s practice, a principle that is reinforced through his active involvement with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). As a board‑certified member of ASPS, he adheres to the Society’s stringent standards for ethical practice, continuous education, and peer review. Dr. Glatt regularly contributes to ASPS’s safety initiatives, including the development of evidence‑based guidelines for peri‑operative antibiotic stewardship, venous thromboembolism prophylaxis, and intra‑operative monitoring. His commitment to these protocols ensures that every operative suite under his direction is equipped with the latest safety checklists, standardized time‑outs, and real‑time data analytics to promptly identify and mitigate potential risks.

Beyond his affiliation with ASPS, Dr. Glatt’s dedication to excellence has been recognized by the prestigious Patient Choice Award, an honor bestowed upon physicians who consistently demonstrate superior patient satisfaction, transparent communication, and outstanding clinical outcomes. This award reflects his unwavering focus on creating an environment where patients feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout their surgical journey. In his practice, he has instituted a comprehensive pre‑operative education program that includes multimedia presentations, detailed consent documentation, and personalized risk‑benefit analyses, thereby fostering informed decision‑making and reducing the likelihood of postoperative complications.

Dr. Glatt’s safety protocols extend into the postoperative phase, where he employs a multimodal pain management strategy that minimizes opioid reliance while delivering effective analgesia. His regimen incorporates regional nerve blocks, non‑steroidal anti‑inflammatory drugs, and adjunctive therapies such as cryotherapy and compression garments. By closely monitoring patients through scheduled telehealth visits and in‑person follow‑ups, he can promptly address concerns such as wound dehiscence, infection, or abnormal scar formation. This proactive surveillance, combined with his meticulous documentation and adherence to evidence‑based postoperative pathways, underscores a culture of safety that permeates every aspect of his clinical practice.
