Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Harris began his academic journey at Vanderbilt University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors. His undergraduate experience was marked by a rigorous curriculum that emphasized molecular genetics, human anatomy, and research methodology. While at Vanderbilt, he contributed to a groundbreaking study on tissue regeneration that was later published in a leading biomedical journal, showcasing his early commitment to scientific inquiry and surgical innovation.

Following his undergraduate success, Dr. Harris was admitted to the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, one of the nation’s most respected medical schools. During his four years of medical training, he distinguished himself in the pre‑clinical years by consistently ranking in the top 5% of his class, and he earned the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. In the clinical years, he pursued a series of selective rotations in general surgery, dermatology, and reconstructive procedures, laying a solid foundation for his eventual specialization in plastic surgery.

Upon graduation with his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, Dr. Harris entered a highly competitive integrated plastic surgery residency at a leading academic medical center. The six‑year program combined intensive operative experience with research and teaching responsibilities. He completed over 2,500 operative cases, ranging from microsurgical free flap reconstructions to complex aesthetic procedures. His residency mentors praised his dexterity, decision‑making acuity, and his innate ability to anticipate intraoperative challenges.

During his residency, Dr. Harris also pursued a fellowship in cosmetic surgery at a premier institute known for pioneering minimally invasive techniques. This fellowship deepened his expertise in facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and the latest laser technologies. He authored multiple peer‑reviewed articles on VASER Hi‑Def liposuction, contributing to the literature that defines best practices for fat grafting and sculptural precision. The combination of his solid academic foundation, rigorous clinical training, and research contributions solidified his reputation as a surgeon who blends scientific rigor with artistic finesse.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Harris’s surgical repertoire spans the full spectrum of cosmetic surgery, with a particular focus on procedures that enhance natural beauty while preserving function. His facial aesthetic work includes rhinoplasty, facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid surgery, each performed with a nuanced understanding of facial anatomy and an eye for subtle, harmonious change. He employs a “layered‑approach” technique that respects the delicate interplay of skin, muscle, and underlying skeletal structure, minimizing scarring and promoting rapid recovery.

In the realm of body contouring, Dr. Harris is renowned for his mastery of VASER Hi‑Def liposuction, a technology that allows for precise fat removal and sculpting while preserving vital connective tissue. This method enables him to create sharply defined muscular outlines, particularly in the abdomen, flanks, and back, delivering results that many patients describe as “athletic” rather than merely “slim.” He combines this technique with advanced fat grafting procedures, such as autologous fat transfer to the breasts, buttocks, and facial regions, ensuring that volume restoration is both durable and aesthetically cohesive.

Beyond aesthetic enhancement, Dr. Harris is also highly skilled in reconstructive surgery, having performed complex breast reconstructions following mastectomy, scar revisions, and congenital anomaly corrections. His reconstructive work is characterized by a meticulous approach to tissue handling, microsurgical precision, and an emphasis on preserving sensation and functional outcomes. He frequently collaborates with oncologic surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for patients navigating cancer treatment pathways.

Innovation is a cornerstone of Dr. Harris’s practice. He regularly integrates emerging technologies such as three‑dimensional imaging, computer‑assisted design (CAD), and intra‑operative ultrasound guidance to refine surgical plans and improve accuracy. His dedication to staying at the forefront of surgical advancement has earned him invitations to present at national conferences, where he shares case studies that illustrate the transformative potential of combining artistic vision with cutting‑edge technology.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Patient safety is the bedrock upon which Dr. Harris builds every operative plan. As a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), he adheres to the society’s rigorous standards for ethical practice, continuous education, and peer review. His affiliation with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) further underscores his commitment to the universal principles of surgical safety, including the use of surgical checklists, sterile technique, and evidence‑based perioperative protocols.

Within his home state, Dr. Harris actively participates in the Tennessee Society of Plastic Surgeons, where he contributes to statewide initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and fostering transparent communication between surgeons and the public. His leadership role in these professional organizations has enabled him to influence policy development, promote best‑practice guidelines, and mentor younger surgeons on the importance of safety culture.

Recognition of Dr. Harris’s dedication to excellence is reflected in his accolades. In 2022, he was honored with the Best Cosmetic Surgeon Award in Nashville, a distinction awarded by a panel of industry experts and patient advocates who evaluate clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and community impact. The previous year, he was named among the Top 100 Plastic Surgeons in the United States, a prestigious list that considers surgical volume, complication rates, and peer endorsements. These awards are not merely decorative; they serve as public affirmations of his unwavering focus on delivering safe, high‑quality care.

To further safeguard his patients, Dr. Harris has instituted a comprehensive pre‑operative screening process that includes detailed medical history reviews, laboratory testing, and risk stratification. He employs advanced anesthesia monitoring and collaborates closely with board‑certified anesthesiologists to tailor sedation plans that minimize intra‑operative complications. Post‑operatively, he utilizes digital wound‑tracking tools that allow patients to report concerns in real‑time, ensuring prompt intervention should any issues arise.
