Rigorous Medical Education and Training

Dr. Friedlander earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, an institution renowned for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on both clinical excellence and research acumen. During her four years of medical school, she distinguished herself through a series of academic honors, including the Dean’s List for three consecutive years and a research fellowship focused on tissue regeneration and scar remodeling. Her senior thesis explored the molecular pathways influencing fibroblast activity in postoperative healing, laying a scientific foundation that would later inform her nuanced approach to minimizing postoperative scarring in aesthetic procedures. The comprehensive training she received at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences emphasized not only surgical skill but also a compassionate, patient‑first ethos that continues to permeate her practice today.

Following medical school, Dr. Friedlander pursued a highly competitive residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at XYZ Hospital, a tertiary care center known for its high volume of complex reconstructive cases and cutting‑edge cosmetic surgery programs. Over the course of her six‑year residency, she rotated through subspecialties including microsurgery, craniofacial reconstruction, and hand surgery, gaining a breadth of experience that sharpened her technical versatility. She completed a dedicated fellowship in aesthetic breast surgery, where she refined her expertise in both augmentation and reduction techniques, mastering the intricacies of implant selection, pocket creation, and postoperative contouring. Her commitment to excellence was recognized through multiple resident awards, such as the “Outstanding Surgical Resident” accolade and the “Research Innovation” prize for her work on bioengineered scaffolds for soft tissue augmentation.

Beyond the formal curriculum, Dr. Friedlander actively sought mentorship from leading figures in plastic surgery, participating in national conferences and workshops that deepened her understanding of emerging trends. She completed advanced cadaveric labs in facial rejuvenation, where she honed delicate dissection skills essential for procedures such as the facelift and mid‑face lift. Her dedication to lifelong learning culminated in a series of peer‑reviewed publications that explored novel approaches to reducing postoperative hematoma in body contouring and optimizing patient satisfaction through individualized implant positioning. This blend of academic rigor, hands‑on experience, and scholarly contribution equips Dr. Friedlander with a uniquely comprehensive perspective, enabling her to deliver outcomes that are both scientifically sound and artistically refined.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Friedlander’s mastery of breast surgery encompasses a full spectrum of procedures, each tailored to the patient’s anatomical characteristics and aesthetic aspirations. In breast augmentation, she employs a patient‑specific approach that integrates pre‑operative three‑dimensional imaging, precise implant selection, and meticulous pocket dissection to achieve natural‑looking results with optimal longevity. Her expertise extends to both silicone and saline implants, as well as the increasingly popular form‑stable “gummy‑bear” devices, with a nuanced understanding of how each material interacts with varying tissue thicknesses. In breast reduction, Dr. Friedlander combines superior pedicle techniques with strategic scar placement to achieve significant volume reduction while preserving nipple sensation and breastfeeding potential, a balance that underscores her dedication to both form and function.

Reconstructive breast surgery is another cornerstone of Dr. Friedlander’s practice, where she collaborates closely with oncologic teams to restore breast contour following mastectomy. Utilizing autologous tissue flaps, such as the DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator) and TRAM (transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous) flaps, she reconstructs breasts with an emphasis on achieving symmetry, minimizing donor‑site morbidity, and preserving the patient’s quality of life. Her reconstructive repertoire also includes implant‑based reconstruction with acellular dermal matrices, offering patients a comprehensive menu of options that align with their oncologic timeline and personal preferences. Dr. Friedlander’s reconstructive outcomes consistently receive high patient satisfaction scores, reflecting her ability to blend surgical precision with empathetic care during some of the most challenging moments in a patient’s journey.

Beyond breast work, Dr. Friedlander excels in facial cosmetic surgery, where she applies a refined artistic sensibility to procedures such as the facelift, mid‑face lift, and eyelift. Her facelift technique emphasizes a deep plane dissection that restores youthful tension while preserving the natural glide of facial tissues, resulting in subtle yet enduring rejuvenation. In eyelift surgery, she utilizes a trans‑conjunctival or external approach based on the patient’s specific anatomy, ensuring optimal crease formation and minimal postoperative bruising. Additionally, Dr. Friedlander offers comprehensive facial contouring—including rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, and cheek augmentation—leveraging a combination of osteotomies, fat grafting, and injectable fillers to sculpt harmonious facial proportions. Her body contouring expertise, spanning abdominoplasty, liposuction, and thigh lifts, showcases a commitment to achieving seamless transitions between treated and untreated areas, delivering results that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally supportive of the patient’s lifestyle.
