During his time at Upstate, he distinguished himself not only through academic excellence but also through a series of research projects that explored the molecular mechanisms of wound healing and scar formation. These investigations laid the groundwork for his later focus on minimizing postoperative scarring and optimizing tissue regeneration, a hallmark of his practice today. His dedication to academic medicine was further demonstrated by his role as a teaching assistant for undergraduate anatomy courses, where he cultivated a reputation for translating complex concepts into clear, actionable insights for his peers.

Following his successful completion of medical school, Dr. Deboni pursued a highly competitive residency in plastic surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The University of Rochester program is distinguished by its comprehensive exposure to both cosmetic and reconstructive disciplines, offering residents a breadth of experience that spans complex craniofacial reconstructions, microsurgical free‑tissue transfers, and high‑volume aesthetic procedures. Throughout his residency, Dr. Deboni honed a refined surgical dexterity, mastering delicate microsurgical techniques under the mentorship of world‑renowned faculty. He contributed to pioneering studies on the use of adipose‑derived stem cells in facial rejuvenation, publishing his findings in peer‑reviewed journals and presenting them at national conferences, thereby cementing his reputation as an emerging thought leader in the field.

Beyond the standard residency curriculum, Dr. Deboni sought out additional fellowships and specialized training to deepen his expertise in aesthetic breast surgery and body contouring. He completed a focused fellowship in aesthetic breast reconstruction at a leading academic center, where he refined his approach to implant selection, tissue‑expander techniques, and autologous flap procedures. This period of intensive training also afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including oncologic surgeons and radiologists, enhancing his ability to integrate oncologic safety with aesthetic excellence. The cumulative effect of his rigorous education and diversified training is a surgeon who possesses a rare combination of technical mastery, scientific curiosity, and compassionate patient care.
