During his time at MUSC, he was consistently recognized on the Dean’s List for academic excellence and contributed to several peer‑reviewed publications focusing on wound healing and scar optimization. His clinical rotations were marked by an early exposure to aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, where he observed the transformative power of precise surgical intervention. These formative experiences solidified his resolve to specialize in plastic surgery, prompting him to seek mentorship under some of the nation’s most respected surgeons.

Following medical school, Dr. Tellis completed a rigorous general surgery residency at a high‑volume tertiary care center, where he honed his technical skills in complex abdominal, thoracic, and vascular procedures. This intensive training provided him with a robust foundation in peri‑operative management, critical care, and multidisciplinary collaboration. He emerged from residency with a reputation for meticulous attention to detail, a steady hand under pressure, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety. Recognizing the importance of subspecialty expertise, Dr. Tellis pursued a dedicated plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship, where he refined his artistic sensibility and mastered advanced techniques in facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and microsurgery.

Throughout his postgraduate training, Dr. Tellis actively engaged in research initiatives that explored novel applications of stem cell therapy and bioengineered scaffolds for tissue regeneration. He presented his findings at national symposia, earning accolades for innovative methodology and clinical relevance. His scholarly pursuits were complemented by hands‑on workshops in laser technology, fat grafting, and minimally invasive liposuction, ensuring a seamless integration of cutting‑edge science into his operative repertoire. The culmination of his educational journey was marked by board certification in plastic surgery, a testament to his comprehensive knowledge base, surgical dexterity, and ethical standards. Today, his academic foundation informs every facet of his practice, from pre‑operative planning to postoperative follow‑up.

Surgical Expertise

Dr. Angelo Tellis is renowned for his mastery of pain management strategies that prioritize patient comfort without compromising surgical outcomes. He employs multimodal analgesia protocols that combine regional nerve blocks, non‑opioid pharmacologic agents, and advanced monitoring technologies to minimize postoperative discomfort. By leveraging ultrasound‑guided techniques, he can precisely deliver anesthetic agents to target nerves, thereby reducing the need for systemic opioids and accelerating recovery times. His dedication to evidence‑based pain control extends to patient education, where he outlines realistic expectations for postoperative sensations and provides tailored home‑care regimens that facilitate optimal healing.

In the realm of cosmetic liposuction, Dr. Tellis has become a leading authority, particularly in the application of power‑assist and ultrasound‑assisted technologies. He meticulously maps each patient’s anatomical contours, employing three‑dimensional imaging to identify areas of excess adipose tissue while preserving critical structures. His procedural philosophy emphasizes gentle, controlled extraction to maintain skin elasticity and reduce the risk of irregularities. By integrating tumescent infiltration techniques with precision‑engineered cannulas, he achieves uniform fat removal and superior sculpting results. Dr. Tellis’s commitment to safety is evident in his adherence to stringent aseptic protocols, intra‑operative monitoring, and postoperative care plans that include compression therapy and progressive mobilization.

Beyond traditional aesthetic procedures, Dr. Tellis is at the forefront of regenerative medicine, pioneering the use of autologous stem cell enrichment and platelet‑rich plasma (PRP) to enhance tissue regeneration and rejuvenation. He utilizes cutting‑edge centrifugation systems to isolate high‑quality stem cells from the patient’s own adipose tissue, which are then re‑implanted to promote collagen synthesis, improve skin texture, and accelerate wound healing. This regenerative approach is especially valuable in complex reconstructive cases, such as scar revision and facial volume restoration, where native tissue quality may be compromised. Dr. Tellis’s expertise in blending regenerative modalities with conventional surgical techniques results in outcomes that are not only aesthetically superior but also biologically robust, offering patients lasting benefits that extend far beyond the operating room.

Commitment to Patient Safety

Dr. Angelo Tellis’s unwavering dedication to patient safety is reflected in his active participation in the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, where he contributes to the development of rigorous practice standards and safety guidelines. As a member of this esteemed organization, he routinely engages in peer‑reviewed audits, attends workshops on emerging safety protocols, and mentors junior surgeons on the importance of ethical decision‑making. His involvement ensures that his practice remains aligned with the latest evidence‑based recommendations, fostering an environment where patient welfare is paramount.

In addition to his academy affiliation, Dr. Tellis holds membership in the American Society of Liposuction Surgery, a body that sets the benchmark for safe liposuction practices worldwide. Through this society, he has helped shape consensus statements on cannula selection, fluid management, and postoperative monitoring, thereby influencing the safety landscape for countless practitioners. His contributions were recognized in 2022 when he received the Top Cosmetic Surgeon Award, an honor bestowed upon surgeons who demonstrate exceptional skill, patient satisfaction, and adherence to the highest safety standards. This accolade underscores his reputation as a surgeon who consistently delivers results without compromising the well‑being of his patients.

The accolades continue with the Excellence in Regenerative Medicine Award in 2021, acknowledging Dr. Tellis’s pioneering work in stem cell‑enhanced procedures and his commitment to advancing the field responsibly. This award highlights his meticulous research methodology, his transparent reporting of outcomes, and his dedication to patient education regarding the benefits and risks of regenerative therapies. By integrating these cutting‑edge techniques within a framework of stringent safety measures—such as sterile processing, validated protocols, and comprehensive postoperative follow‑up—Dr. Tellis ensures that innovation never supersedes the core principle of “do no harm.” His practice model serves as a paradigm for balancing groundbreaking advancements with the timeless imperative of patient protection.
