Dr. Angelo Cuzalina earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from a nationally recognized medical school, where he graduated with honors and distinguished himself in both basic science research and clinical rotations. His undergraduate foundation in biomedical engineering provided a unique perspective on tissue mechanics and implant design, which later informed his surgical innovations. During medical school, Dr. Cuzalina pursued multiple summer research fellowships, contributing to peer‑reviewed publications on wound healing and biomaterials, thereby laying a scholarly groundwork that would complement his future operative expertise. This academic rigor cultivated a disciplined mindset, emphasizing meticulous data analysis and evidence‑based decision making.
Following medical school, Dr. Cuzalina completed a demanding general surgery residency at a high‑volume academic medical center, where he mastered the fundamentals of operative technique, peri‑operative care, and multidisciplinary collaboration. His residency experience included rotations in trauma, oncology, and reconstructive surgery, granting him a comprehensive view of surgical anatomy and the physiologic challenges of complex procedures. He was repeatedly selected for leadership roles within the residency program, serving as chief resident and overseeing resident education, which honed his teaching skills and reinforced his commitment to fostering the next generation of surgeons.
To specialize further, Dr. Cuzalina pursued a rigorous plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at a premier institute renowned for aesthetic innovation. Surgical Expertise
In the realm of breast augmentation, Dr. Cuzalina has become a regional authority, renowned for his nuanced understanding of implant selection, placement, and patient anatomy. He employs a personalized algorithm that considers factors such as chest wall dimensions, tissue quality, and aesthetic goals to recommend the optimal implant type—whether silicone gel, saline, or the latest cohesive gel options. His meticulous surgical technique emphasizes precise pocket creation, minimal scar formation, and strategic positioning to achieve natural‑appearing results that harmonize with the patient’s overall silhouette. Dr. Cuzalina also integrates advanced imaging and three‑dimensional modeling to preview postoperative outcomes, thereby enhancing patient confidence and satisfaction.
Liposuction, one of the most frequently requested body‑contouring procedures, is performed by Dr. Cuzalina using a combination of power‑assist technology and tumescent infiltration to maximize fat removal while preserving surrounding structures. He tailors his approach to each individual’s adipose distribution, employing strategic cannula selection and careful trajectory planning to achieve smooth, contoured results in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and posterior neck. Dr. Cuzalina’s commitment to safety is evident in his adherence to strict volume limits and vigilant intra‑operative monitoring, ensuring that the physiological stress on the patient remains within acceptable parameters. Post‑operative protocols include customized compression garments and targeted physiotherapy to promote optimal healing and long‑term aesthetic stability.
Abdominoplasty, commonly known as the “tummy tuck,” represents a cornerstone of Dr. Cuzalina’s reconstructive and aesthetic repertoire. He utilizes a refined technique that balances aggressive tissue excision with preservation of vascular integrity, allowing for robust wound healing even in patients with prior abdominal surgeries or significant weight fluctuations. Dr. Cuzalina’s method incorporates meticulous muscle plication, strategic fat redistribution, and, when appropriate, adjunctive lipofilling to enhance contour and volume symmetry. His comprehensive pre‑operative assessment includes a detailed evaluation of skin elasticity, scar placement, and patient lifestyle, ensuring that the surgical plan aligns with realistic expectations and long‑term functional outcomes. The result is a flatter, firmer abdomen that not only improves physical appearance but also restores core strength and posture.

Patient safety lies at the heart of Dr. Angelo Cuzalina’s practice, a principle reinforced by his active involvement with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). As a member of this prestigious organization, Dr. Cuzalina adheres to the society’s rigorous standards for operative protocols, infection control, and ethical patient care. He routinely participates in ASPS‑sponsored workshops that focus on the latest safety guidelines, risk mitigation strategies, and evidence‑based peri‑operative management. This continuous engagement ensures that his surgical environment remains compliant with the highest national benchmarks, and that his team is equipped with the latest knowledge to prevent complications and promote optimal recovery.
Beyond organizational affiliation, Dr. Cuzalina’s dedication to safety is reflected in the numerous accolades his practice has garnered, most notably the Patient Choice Award. Recipients of the Patient Choice Award consistently demonstrate superior communication, transparent consent processes, and a track record of low complication rates. Dr. Cuzalina’s practice leverages these standards by implementing comprehensive pre‑operative screening, individualized risk assessments, and rigorous post‑operative follow‑up protocols that prioritize early detection of potential issues and swift intervention when necessary.
To further safeguard his patients, Dr. Cuzalina has instituted a multi‑layered safety framework that integrates technology, staff training, and procedural checklists. Every surgical case is preceded by a mandatory “time‑out” where the operative team verifies patient identity, surgical site, and planned procedure, mirroring the Universal Protocol endorsed by national safety agencies. In the operating suite, he utilizes advanced monitoring systems that track vital signs, blood loss, and anesthetic depth in real time, allowing for immediate adjustments to maintain physiologic stability. Post‑operative care includes detailed discharge instructions, 24‑hour hotline access, and scheduled follow‑up visits, all designed to ensure continuity of care and rapid response to any concerns. This comprehensive approach underscores Dr. Cuzalina’s belief that safety is not a single event but an ongoing continuum that begins before the first incision and extends far beyond the final suture.
